It's come to our attention that some users with PlusNet are experiencing loading / posting issues on ProBoards, sometimes receiving the error message: "Squid did not receive any data for this request." This is an issue with your ISP; you may want to contact them and let them know of the Squid error, and perhaps a solution can be found that way. Details on Squid can be found here.

i have been a plusnet user for a couple of years and a proboard user for most of that time. i moderate a proboard site and access it several times a day using firefox. untill yesterday when i encountered this problem. i was given a link to this post on firefox forums. however i managed to find a solution myself. using the troubleshooting guide, firstly i opened up history and right clicked on the proboard site i was having issue with and selected - forget about this site. this did not work so i then selected clear recent history in tool and cleared browsing history, cache, cookies, and logins for all sites. this solved the problem and recommend giving it a try

My ISP is a part of the PLusnet "family" and I can make short, couple of lines posts, but anything longer gets the Squid failure. Happens on all proboards sites I post on.
I have raised a ticket through my ISP who have escalated it, but of course that means nowt.

Hi,
Update.........
I also am experiencing the same problems above.
I have now contacted PlusNet by phone and they are aware of this problem, but it's appearing more complex than they thought, but are working on it to sort it out.

After being referred to the broadband troubleshooter wizard (yawn), despite providing a copy of the error message, I am pleased to say that their first line support has escalated my support ticket.
I've found that their first line has a habit of not logging faults as being at their end, unless they are already logged by someone else, so its difficult to get anything actually logged as needing attention at 2nd line level!

The following was taken from the Plus Net support forum, posted by a member of Plus Net staff:
As alluded to by (members name deleted) , it's our IWF proxies getting into a pickle with the HTTP transaction when you try making a post. It should be relatively easy to fix once your ticket gets picked up by our networks folk (who don't work over the weekend BTW).

I've just been reading the plusnet support pages and it looks like it is going to take a while to fix unfortunately. All the info you need can be found here.

I found the following post on their support forum: community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,84274.msg695714.html I tried to post in that thread but registration is for customers only. If someone could make a post in the thread directing Bob or any of their other support staff to this post i would appreciate it. -- Plusnet support, If you are unable to identify the problem causing these issues, please feel free to get hold of me at martyn (at) proboards.com so we can work on rectifying the situation for both of our customers. At a glance, i would suggest the issue is relating to packet sizes, specifically MTU/MSS sizes. The reason i have gone down this road is reading reports from users. Any simple request or small posts work without issue, while anything submission or request larger fails with the error you have already been provided. Nothing at this end has been changed in that regard in around 2 years, and the problem seems limited to your customers starting a couple of days ago. Hopefully its just a case of reverting whatever change was made at that point.

With the risk of sounding stupid...
If the plus net gets sorted because it's the same company as Madasafish does that mean they will both be sorted?

Hi Ricky et al, Firstly, apologies to all for the problems you've been experiencing! We're working on this problem now and expect it to be fixed later on today (ref: 61025). It will resolve the issue for both Plusnet and Madasafish customers. @mitchie, the CGI outage is unrelated to this problem. Rgds, Bob Pullen PlusnetEdit: I've just approved the change control for the fix so should be sorted within the next hour or two Edit again: should now be fixed

Thanks to all concerned, especially Martyn from Proboards and Bob from PlusNet for working together on it. The problem seems to have been solved and all working fine now.
