Hi again guys. I, along with a user here named Auburn co-admin halloforigin.proboards.comWe came here with an appeal to a ToS violation reported by someone with spiteful spirit against the forum and successfully got our site back. Read more here: support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&thread=363831#ixzz0urCuqZyb This morning the site went into maintenance mode and then, after a few hours, was presumably deleted. I obviously did not delete our large forum and neither did Auburn as seen here in a PM between us on a different forum we go to: i36.tinypic.com/25i9l39.pngWe both believe the root admin account, which neither of us can log into, was hacked and used to delete the forum. Is it possible for Proboards support to restore a forum deleted by root admin account? Also more importantly, is there any way to prevent a hack? I'm told Proboard's security measures aren't exactly the greatest.

I'm told Proboard's security measures aren't exactly the greatest. Hi, ProBoards is very secure. As far as I know, ProBoards itself has never been "hacked". More commonly, however, is when members "crack" the admin account of a forum, which might be the case in regards to your forum. Cracking is simply logging into the admin's account with his/her email address. For tips on keeping your forum/accounts secure as a preventive measure from cracking, have a read here: safetynet.proboards.comRegarding the forum deletion, an admin may be able to let you know if the forum was deleted for a TOS violation or by the main admin (or his/her account, if cracked). In your screenshot, the other member mentioned it may be related to a TOS report, but you would have been warned. This is not always the case. Keep in mind that sometimes if a significant part of the forum violates TOS, a warning isn't always merited.

I've been assured by a Proboards Admin that any further problems will be sent to us via PM on our forum.
Also, I'm sure a ToS violation isn't accompanied by the site going into maintenance mode without either admin initiating it and both admins being locked out of their own accounts. Thanks for the input though, Trill. And keep in mind the suspected hacker is known for his hacking abilities.
So is a deleted site restorable?

Given the 'symptoms' of the forum issues (Maint. mode, staff locked it), it is quite possible that the forum was cracked. In cases like this, usually your forum is able to be restored, however I cannot speak for the ProBoards staff. You'll have to wait for a ProBoards admin for more information. Hope this gets sorted out.
