I haven't actually signed up yet cuz pb is STILL upgrading (This is a very long WEEK lol!) ;D Right, i wanna make a forum that everyone (or at least a good few people) will visit and post on! I'm interested in fantasy novels, so something around that would be good but I'm not sure! Admins, any help and members... what do you want to see!

There's pretty much a forum out there for everything these days, what do you think will make your forum special?

Heres probably ok to discuss it For your forum to succed on Proboards it must have something that the people of Proboards have been craving for a long time. But like Avtar said i think you'll be looking for that craving for a long time to come

I think it would be better to have a topic idea first, and then make a forum to fit that topic.

the best thing you could do is build a forum around a topic that makes you happy. Make it about something you are passionate about. And in doing so it will reflect in your forum. Also, make it about something you are knowledgable in. Too many forums out there have been built just so someone can say they had one. And in most instances they died. It is better to have a happy community of 20 that are active then a memberlist of 400 and no one posting.
and as mentioned there are forums all over the place out there. If you do figure out a topic make your forum unique , give it something no other forum has. Good luck

I don't recall seeing any codes or anything about this in the coding portion of the forum but, if there wasn't it would be nice if there was some sort of chat system enabled on all forums. You would be able to disable, enable and be able manage it from you the Admins CP.

I've had several forums fail either to lack of interest or lack of promotion It's hard to come up with a topic that'll get people to join & participate. I think promotion is the hardest part, at least for me. Unless you're EXTREMELY active in other forums & have a link to your board in the sig, hardly anyone will know your forum exists. Another thing is getting the members to participate in discussions. The content of the forum is key. I had my board at a certain other place that shall remain nameless, & I had over 100 members but only 4 of us were posting. I don't think the others ever logged in again after joining. Then I moved to PB, & the other 3 members that posted at the old board moved with me. Despite several emails to encourage the members of the old board to return, there was no response. When I decided to move the forum here, I again sent emails to inform them of the move as well as mentioning the upgrade to entice them(this was in may). I've gotten a few more members since coming here(I'm up to 13 now), but some still haven't returned since joining. It seems that as the admin, you have to post twice as much just to turn some heads. Running a forum isn't easy, & it takes a lot of hard work & dedication to get positive results. I've always struggled with forums, so I have to work harder. I just hope it pays off, even a little.

I am pretty good at advertising because I have been doing it for a while and luckily, I go to the world's biggest forums.
