I really need your help right now. Today I'm ordering an LCD monitor, 17", perferably from ZipZoomFly, but I don't know which one to choose! According to every website I visit, 19" monitors are the "new cool thing." But I want 17" because 19 is too expensive for me. 17s are within the $200-$300 range. Plus, it must be very good with gaming, fast-paced gaming too.Whenever I try to look up reviews on specific monitors, I get no reviews. Not one review. All I get are places to buy it, but no reviews. So basically I need your help. www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductList.jsp?ThirdCategoryCode=011303&SortBy=A Preferably below $300 but that shouldn't be a problem, there are tons of monitors there. I'd really like to thank you a lot OH, one last thing. I know there are a few Samsungs there - I want to stay away from those. I'm never buying anything from them, EVER. I've got a Samsung CD-RW in my PC and a DVD-ROM in my XBOX and both are crappy and don't work. That's why I want to steer clear of them. Thank you

besides the size and name what is the difference? I though LCD were all the same...... Or is it like a tv the pictures look different? Normally the more you pay the better the image etc. Getting an LCD with a respond time of 8ms (milliseconds) is going to be far better than one with say 21ms. Also some LCD's display DVD's better than others with better blacks and also control panels that can change the display to suit what you are doing.
Lastly for those with twin outputs on their graphics cards using the DVI out to an LCD monitor fitted with a DVI input will increase the clarity of the picture over a VGA connection.

I've seen sonys in action as well, and they're aren't the greatest at making PC moniters if you ask me.

Now listen.. I know what I need, low latency and everything so I don't really need to be told about that, I just need to find a good monitor. Because tons of those monitors have 12ms and 8ms latencies so I mean And no, google does not help. I already searched google for that exact same search line before I posted this. As for DVI, I ruled out a monitor that Woopy suggested because it was not DVI capable and I read that LCD monitors should be So I know I need DVI also. But you see this is the thing. There are tons of monitors there that are DVI capable and have a low latency. I just need to figure out what the difference between them all is! I posted this thread at a tech board at a forum I know has tons of techies and I got some very good responses so I'm going to check those out too and then come back here.

Now listen No where in your first post did you state that you knew everything about LCD and its inputs, respond times etc. The replies given were a guidline by people that could not read your mind (You might want to consider that in future) Also info given by people here has helped others to understand LCD more.
Anyone knows that by putting the name of the product+reviews into google is the best test.
Sony (Model name)+reviews will tell you all you need to know.

Beast, I'm sorry. You listen to me now, though I did not state that stuff in my post because.. well.. I just didn't I knew about it, I just didn't say anything about it. And did I yell at anyone for stating something I already know? No. product + reviews = google gave me nothing. It gives me cnet, epinions, places to buy it .. And they all have 0 reviews by users. EVENTUALLY I found some reviews and made my decision on a monitor. I chose this one: www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=239023It's nice, the 1715 series monitors gets a lot of praise, it has 8ms for it's response time and it's a good price. So thanks to everyone who posted in this thread, I found my monitor
