Because a former Area 51 worker wrote a book about Area 51, explaining what I just said, and much much more.

Locked away - with all the security systems you could think of - in a sub-basement, below the janitors office, behind the water-cooler is the question of life (since we all know that the answer is 42). Scribbled down by some random alien on a piece of newspaper. That is what I think they are hiding! Because A: Aliens would create panic, B: The question of life would be such a abstract thought that it'd fry ones mind if read, C: I haven't got C down just yet... But, its coming! Somewhere along the lines of: the paper also holds the cellphone-number to Mars. I love ranting! On a more serious note -- I don't think they disect aliens and muck about in their spaceships, rather than actually using Area 51 as a airport for aliens that want to visit Earth. Kind of like in the movies Men In Black.

Unfortunatly that's a very unwise thing to do. They obviously forgot the child-hood lesson of "Don't talk to strangers"
We shouldn't be chit-chatting with smarter races until we're sure that they don't want to blow us into a gazillion peices! I give it 10 years before the aliens blow us up or we blow ourselves up.

Area 51 does exist, it's a top secret military base that the US goverment made at about the same time as the cold war, the point of it was in order to develop new technologies that the goverment could use, in order to spy on other countries. Area 51 was one of the first places in which the goverment made in order to actually spy on other countries, this was understandable seeing as the goverment was so sure that Cuba has Missiles and could easily blow up the world in a matter of seconds. The US goverment sent it up to make serveral different things most of them where new types of Aircraft, the first plane that was shown was the U2-spy plane, this was shown in the mid 1950's, however in 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51.
Bob Lazar
He says he worked at a facility called "Area S-4" at Papoose Dry Lake, south of the known government air base at Area 51, in late 1988 and early 1989. There he says he saw nine flying saucers housed in hangars built into a hillside. Lazar says he had hands-on experience with one of the craft and he can describe its propulsion system in detail. Lazar says he read briefing papers about the alien presence but that he saw no aliens himself (aside from a fleeting glimpse of a small figure through a window at the facility).
All lies and mismanagement aside, Lazar's is a fascinating tale, compelling even as fiction. Its restraint and long-term internal consistancy remain impressive. Lazar's straightforward explanations of his experiences, his healthy skepticism of other UFO claims and his early willingness to submit to hypnosis and a polygraph test remain intriguing.
However Lazar did unlock one question:
"What is out there at Area 51?"
Thats what i know about Area 51, lol, not much really.

I reckon they've got some kind of revolutionary technology there that they don't wan't the world to know about just yet.

they just develop military aircraft thats it, no aliens, if you want to talk about aliens talk about Rosswell, the fact is that Lazar was a liar he made it up, over half his records where false, the only reason people think there are aliens is because the technology was so different and it was such a jump in the way how Air Craft looked

There is supposed to be a secret installation somewhere on the huge Nellis AFB in Nevada- so secret that no one spends the night there and personnel are flown in and out every day from Las Vegas. There definitely are buildings and a landing strip at Groom Lake (Area 51) visible at a great distance from public land. Whether those buildings are the secret base or not, no one can prove. Maybe it is a convient decoy, since Nellis is certainly large enough to have areas NOT visible from public land.
Most likely if a secret base exists, it is a test site for secret aircraft experiments. There is no direct evidence, only speculation, that extraterrestrial technology is hidden there.

Did you know that there is tecnicaly 60 states in the U.S. That is if you count the 10 Island teritories of the U.S. that are not counted in the 50 states, take Midway for instance, if you look on a map it looks like its part of Hawaii but it is accualy seperate from Hawaii and its still part of the U.S. yet you will never find it on any map of the U.S. Just think of what can be off on the 10 Unlisted States of America (funny thats still U.S.A.) Why do they not show up on the maps its not because they are too far out of the way and some of them "too small" like many are lead to belive its accualy because the government is hiding something, there are even Area controlled by the U.S. that will never be found on any world map. So yea it is the places we dont know of that we should be scared of. BTW I do blieve Area 51 is concealing Aliens under the surface, and developing some prototype aviation vehicles, BTW the aircraft is not called Aurora it is accualy called something unknown to the public it is at the moment known as "Project Aurora" Just like the stealth was called "Project Daisy" and the SR-71 Blackbird was called "Project Pheonix" (I have seen the accualy SR-71 Blackbird there is a sign next to where it is now that sais it was developed under the name "Project Pheonix") There are 50 states, the rest are territories and such. Maybe the reason they want to hide Area 51 is because they mgith have secret stuff there they don't want other people to find off?
