I am curious about this software. Is it suitable for graphic and web design, or is it geared more towards photo enhancement only? I currently use PSP version 7 for all my graphic design projects. I have had it for over 5 years and was considering purchasing an upgrade. But this new Corel Paint Shop Pro appears to be focused more on photo imaging and not on graphic design. Does it have an animation feature like the PSP7 does? Is it suitable for banner and button making? And if not, what new graphic design software would you recommend that doesn't cost a fortune like Photoshop? Thanks for your feedback on this..

If I'm correct, PSP X2 is about 5 versions up from PSP7, and can be used for graphics/web design. Photoshop has "photo" in its name and is a major graphics/web design product.
Generally you'll be able to make a good amount in it, and from what people have told me, PSP is just as powerful as PS, so should be a good buy if you can't afford PS.

Eh, in your case... I'm not sure I'd recommend the upgrade. Since PSP 7 was owned by Jasc, upgrading to such a late version might be quite the transition. (Unless you're up for some experimenting). Not MUCH has changed as far as the overall tools, but there are some switches with the interface and tons of new features added since Corel took over Jasc in version 9 and made it look more "Corel-Like" with other software they had.
Yes, it does implement a lot of photo editing features, but your average tools from PSP 7 and 8 are still there and usable...
Except for animation. Jasc owned "Animation Shop" and made it compatible with PSP 7, but Corel doesn't have an animation program, and PSP X2 can't switch back n' forth between the two programs. If you usually do animations and aren't looking to go into any web design work or photo editing, I don't think the upgrade is needed.
...I'm pretty sure that's about accurate XD

The latest, and last version of Animation Shop - sadly - is '3'. So, that should have come with either PSP 7, and/or PSP 8. And tbh, there's not much difference between the two versions (7 + 8).
If you are wanting to do web design, and other things similar and not just animations, I would recommend getting PSPX2. Just download the 30day trial, see if you like it. If you do, get it, but don't uninstall PSP7, that way you keep Animation Shop, too.

I really would like to learn some new techniques..things you can't do with PSP7. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

PSP X2 has some great things that of which PSP 7 doesn't have, plus the layout and interface is much better, smoother and just generally nicer on the eyes and more realxing to work with.
I would definitely try the trial, 'cos to me, I could never use PSP 7 ever again lol.
