Hello, I did a search on this topic and found some discussions. However, I did not understand them well enough to avoid making this post. I would like to write a small tutorial for a board I am involved with. This tutorial would include small pictures showing each step. (e.g. showing r-click the my computer icon) I have the images in the 'My Pictures' folder on my computer. Would someone be so kind as to inform me on how to get them into a board thread/private message. Thank you, BoardPro.

If you want the picture on a thread or PM you would do this.
[img]URL OF IMAGE[/img]

If you want the picture on a thread or PM you would do this. [img]URL OF IMAGE[/img] Thanks for your response. Alas I am still confused. I looked up URL on the Internet, it was talking about it being " short strings that identify resources in the web". How do I find a URL for something in the "My Pictures" folder on my comp? Is there such a thing? I'm probably off in left field as usual. Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, BoardPro.

Hi there,
You have to take the image from your pictures folder, and upload it to a imagehosting site like tinypic.com, imageshack.us, or photobucket.com then you have to stick the Direct Link between the [img][/img] tags, like Nudge said.

Ahh . . . How odd, (at least it seems that way to someone "me" trying to do this for the first time). I would like to thank both of you (Nudge & Candy) for your help. I'll start looking into those three sites now. Hopefully this thread will help someone else in the future. Sincerely yours, BoardPro.

to find the URL, do you hover over the image?

What image hosting site are you using? All should provide you a "direct link", which is what you would put between the [img] [/img] tags.
