Stop smoking? That will get rid of all your problems.
If not:
I really don't know.

Smoke Cotton Candy instead :X or just stop smoking all together and save yourself 20+ years. Hey now. To point out a pretty great quote; "Smoking takes ten years off your life. Well it's the ten worst years, isn't it folks? It's the ones at the end! It's the wheelchair, kidney dialysis, adult diaper years. You can have those years! We don't want 'em, alright?" Anyway, 'not smoking' probably isn't the answer he's looking for. Did you try febreezing your clothing?

If you've got long hair, keep it washed. Only smoke outside, obviously. Goes without saying. Um. Mebbe wear a jacket/coat/whatever when you're smoking, so that you can take it off when you're done, and the smell won't be on what you've still got on. Washing your hands doesn't seem to get the smell of your fingers so well though >_> Brush your teeth afterwards. DON'T GET CAUGHT HANGING OUT THE WINDOW >_< Oh, and don't get drunk and leave your cigarettes in the living room either. -_- First hand experience? The last two are, yeah. =P

Why don't you want your dad to know you're smoking? Is he one of those fathers that would go up the wall and overreact to the situation at hand? Yes, and he'd make me stop too. I'm still living under his roof, and he's still making payments on my laptop. I can't afford to disobey him! Maybe.... Wait until you moved out before starting to smoke?

I recently started smoking (please spar me, I know the health risks), and I don't want my dad to know. My mom knows, but not my dad. What should I smoke to put off the least odor. I don't want to smell like cigarettes and risk my dad noticing. Once again, PLEASE spare me the speeches about it being unhealthy. I am 18, and I KNOW the risks. Smoke outside, and always have minty gum on you, helps with the smokey breath.

He is going to find out. All cigs smell the same after you are done smoking. Your clothing will stink of it, so will your breath. And everything in the room you smoke in will start to stink of it too. EVEN if you smoke hanging out the window your whole room will stink of it. Cig smoke manages to go everywhere, and get into everything.
If your laptop is soo important to you, as is your place to live, than why would you even start smoking? That is about as smart as getting a place that has a NO PETS rule in the contract, and getting the largest dog you can find! You risk being evicted! What is soo important about you smoking that you feel the need to start, when there are soo many ways it could go wrong?

My mom found butts on my window sill awhile ago, so dont feel bad. >.< Well I was hanging out the window, and they were in the living room (below). I was making sure to flick the ash in an empty can, but a single (read; SINGLE!) ember floated down past the patio doors, and they saw. They came up just as I was sitting down (my bed is under one of the windows) That was a fun conversation. >_> A couple of weeks later I then got ridiculously drunk, and somehow managed to leave a baccy pouch somewhere. I don't know where, because they'd moved it by the time I woke up.

You're not going to be able to smoke often, I can tell you that much. I wouldn't risk smoking at home, even hanging out of the window.
You could tell him that you've started to go for short runs, and while out you can have a smoke. Make sure to carry axe, to cover the smoke, and I would walk while smoking so it's not wafting around you. Besides that, there's really not much to tell you. Just make sure to brush your teeth often and invest in some hand lotion to take the smell away.

Again, NO "STOP SMOKING" SPEECHES! That's not what this thread is about. I asked for advice, not a sermon.

Again, NO "STOP SMOKING" SPEECHES! That's not what this thread is about. I asked for advice, not a sermon. The thing is, there isn't a way to keep the smell away. It gets into everything, clothing, skin, hair, breath. Your dad will notice sooner or later, because there simply isn't really a way to hide smoking for others. Sooner or later they notice the smell, the strange exits from dinner, the yellow teeth, how when you get sick you wheeze and cough a lot. Honestly and seriously, buy the patch or some nicorette. Cheaper and much less smelly in the long run, and less likely to cause cancer. And, people will actually want to stand near you instead of standing 10 feet up wind.
