Miss Daisy, I have often wondered myself. My post count is relatively small considering how long I have been here and how often I am here. Many times I just can't find anything worthwhile posting in.
This past week a member, who always makes us laugh, posted that his father had just died. There were hardly any replies to it. I found that rather sad considering all the replies to some pretty silly and meaningless stuff.

Thanks for replying, Foozlebootz I must have missed the thread you're talking about.. I haven't been around much lately but honestly that surprises me. Personally, I had an outpouring of support when my dad passed away this spring and hearing that makes me really sad Sometimes I feel like it's all about the post count to a lot of people, and it doesn't feel right to me. There's people here that have three times as many posts as me but haven't been around even a year and I can't help but wonder how many one or two word replies they've put up to get there =/

-Depends on the title ( has to grab attention) -depends on subject ( consider average age of readers and their interests. A thread on gardening won't go far in a forum full of teens) - depends on topic popularity.( a thread on dragon cave would get more attention then a Hannah Montana thread because, Mylie Cyrus is old news.) -Consider what is controversial ( religion, politics, abortion, ) will usually get a lot of attention because everyone has an opinion. This forum grows and morphs every few months. A topic that was extremely popular 3 months ago may be ignored today. I think it has very little to do with the thread maker. If a thread bombs and you feel strongly about the topic, wait a few months, reword it and see what happens. You'll be surprised. Don't let a " dud" thread keep you from making them and never take it seriously. If I did, I'd have stopped posting threads 4 years ago when my first one bombed. Thank you Tobi, that is really good advice! As a 'newbie' to PB Support will keep that in mind- it may save my feelers from getting hurt one day. I prefer to post in things that actually require me to think- I like a good joke now & then or a little fun but the "meaninglessness" gets old & boring after a while.

"Would you rather" threads invite people to blather on about themselves without it seeming out of place, and there's nothing more attractive to the average Internet user.
