I just took a look at the forum's headers and footers, and noticed you had something in the footer for the bargains board. When you said you had all the codes removed before, did you only remove the codes in the global headers and footers? or did you remember to take this one out too? It's possible that while the other codes were removed, the problem could have existed only in this section and just the specifics of that became un-noticed, and is why some log-outs were still occurring for members even when you said that all the codes were removed. Just thought I'd provide something to chew on anyway

The Swagcode swidget? That's been up since January 10, and you're right, it was still up while the rest of the codes were down. Thanks for pointing that out. People have been getting logged out since before January 10th, but since there may be more than one issue going on, it's definitely something to chew on!

Yep, I did forget to remove the Swidget code...I really don't think that's the problem though. If I go removing codes again, people are going to hurt me Can I ask what it would be about a code that would cause it to log some people out at random, while others have no issues at all? Would it be a glitch in the code, or the codes just not working with their browsers/etc? Thanks

It depends really. Some codes can be copied incorrectly missing an important piece to the code that can impact the rest of the page. In short, with the codes involved, there's a lot of different possible variables involved that could be causing the issue. By removing all codes across the forum head to toe removes those extra variables and helps us better understand if there's some sort of malfunction/conflict with the codes, or possibly the board itself (which would be on our end). If you could, remove all the codes again all across the forum, make a new poll on your forum to ask users if it's improved, and let it run for about 5 days . If you'd like, you can add a bit telling them to send the hate mail my way (and possibly mention the idea of clearing cache / cookies on their browsers). By making sure everything is removed, it will definitely help us a lot as this is a pretty heavy game of finding a needle in the haystack at the moment; we need all the help we can get to find a solution

I removed ALL codes yesterday and people are still being logged out. I just got logged out when I was in the "bargains" section and clicked on "hot topics".

You said you use FireFox, correct? The next time you're wanting to visit the forum, can you select Tools > Start Private Browsing, go to your forum and log-in and use the forum as you typically would. I'd be particularly interested to know the results of this one

hmm.. Did you try the private browsing idea I mentioned earlier? Were you logged out at all when using that?

No, I wasn't logged out with Private browsing, but *I* don't get logged out as often as others do

I'm afraid I don't know what else to suggest; it's nothing on our end, and if they've cleared their cache / cookies and still have issues... That's why I like suggesting people to try the private browsing way (or InPrivate Browsing for IE8 users). That makes it as if you had just installed the browser, without using any past browsing info, so if it works fine in private browsing mode, but you get logout issues without it, then it's an issue with the temporary internet files and should be fine after those are cleared out.

Hey, what about stat-counter stuff? Could that be causing people to get logged out?

It's possible. But if some people were still getting logged out when all the codes were removed (which would mean there wasn't a stat-counter during this period of time), then there's still a ghost in the machine somewhere *nod*
