From the article I read about it, it appears to be a done deal and that it will last for 10 years starting in 2012... F1 Event in Austin, TexasWhat are your thoughts and feelings to the F1 series coming back to the U.S. on a different track than Indy? My thoughts are that I am excited and am looking forward to see how this will turn out.

I think it's cool even though I don't watch it. I've said for years that if a race takes more than 14 seconds I'd rather not watch it. But for the fans of F1 racing this is good news indeed

What happened to the last F1 track? They stopped racing at that track in 2007 after 8 years of racing there, and I believe this is mentioned in the article and for what reason... But yea, they stopped racing in the U.S. in 2007.

Good to hear. I think its good for F1s unique image of being a truly global sport that the US has one.
Never really know how Americans feel about F1, I've never thought they liked corners that go in more than one direction. But I suppose F1 has fans hidden everywhere..

It's good news and all, but a tiny bit of the article that made me raise an eyebrow a bit:
"Efforts to establish the event in other U.S. cities have faltered, mostly because they lacked permanent facilities designed for F1 racing.
'It was like trying to play baseball in" the University of Texas football stadium, Hellmund said.'"
Granted, I understand that American racing is typically of the oval kind, but there are a few pretty well known road circuits here in the US that I think would fit fine with F1, without having to go and build a whole new track. Road America in Wisconsin and Leguna Seca (now Mazda Raceway) in California are two that spring to mind pretty instantly for me that would provide a good race. I guess a new facility built specifically with F1 racing in mind shows a lot more seriousness that America wants to see an F1 race hosted here again, but I fail to see how it would be the only option of bringing it back. I guess Texas just wants it more.

Good news. Good to see F1 moving back to northern america after losing both the US and canadian grand prix a couple of years back. Both back now can only be good

I think Las Vegas would be a better fit for the U.S. Grand Prix.

Formula 1 is a EU thing... And it will stay that way until Americans show some attention to it. I do not know if any US manufacturer is involved in F1... US people should watch and attend the races and US manufacturers should come up with a team to make it popular in US

Formula 1 is a EU thing... o.0 Say that to the Japanese, Brazilian, Australian, etc drivers. Just because Americans have a phobia of corners doesn't make F1 anything like just a European motorsport.

I meant fans and teams mostly. No offense. Lately we see teams from India and other countries, which is good
