I don't want to risk my forum being messed around. For the sake of my members I've applied to go ad-free All part of the master plan.. Maybe.... But my members have a lot of fun on the forum, and it's a good laugh - so it's worth it to me

Completely ad free (no 50,000 pageview limit) and your own domain name.

There is nothing attractive about this new feature. And I'm wondering exactly how this will effect many codes that put the ad above the forum. Many people take away the welcome table all together and there are many ways to do this and many looks to it. So if there's no welcome table for the ad to be under is this a punishable problem? Are boards without welcome tables now in trouble?

I think it would be helpful if we knew what we were and/or weren't allowed to do with the welcome table. Let's use this site, for example, which uses a custom header table instead of a welcome table: protunes.proboards.com/1) The Ad still appears in approximately the same location. There really isn't a hugely noticeable difference if the forum were to load with the welcome table instead. 2) Members still have to scroll down past the ad to view any content of the forum. With both the conditions met (which seem like the logical reasons why moving the welcome table is now prohibited), is it okay to create a custom header table in this fashion? Personally, at $7.00/month I would rather use a free bulletin board software on a paid hosting account. Completely ad free (no 50,000 pageview limit) and your own domain name. Trust me..... £4.50 a month isn't even an itch on my back Care to donate to the rest of us?

Completely ad free (no 50,000 pageview limit) and your own domain name. To be perfectly honest, I'd say that's probably the best solution no matter what, if you plan on paying anything for a forum. PB's insistence on bulking up ads as of late will likely drive people into paid features, which aren't really cost-effective when you start stacking them together.

Trust me..... £4.50 a month isn't even an itch on my back I'm not saying that it is. I was just saying that your money would have better value elsewhere. Of course, staying with PB would mean keeping any content/posts you've accumulated so it might be worth staying with Proboards for that reason. But personally, I'd rather have a completely ad-free forum with my own domain name.

I fail to see how a 100% optional feature is "bulking up ads." Notice it's gone at the top? Because I Just changed support's setting. No forum will get this feature by default, you must specifically enable it if you want it. If you don't like this feature you don't have to use it. The only other ad that was added a couple months ago was changing the link ad at the bottom to a banner, which we received zero complaints about. Further to the point, you have made the accusation that we are pushing more and more paid features that "stack up" the price - this is completely false. We actually made one of our paid features free a while back (attachments). Now we recently added the ability to change your URL for a small, one time fee. That isn't some kind of monthly fee that "stacks up" as you seem to be claiming. Currently we only have one paid feature that is a month to month option: ad-free.

Awww. I was getting used to it.
I actually liked it. I could see threads I was active in, even if I forget that I posted in a thread, there it was. Or if I was gone for a few hours, or just got up in the morning I could see what threads I have posted in have been active recently.
I would love to have it back, or some indicator put onto the threads I post in, so that I can easilly see at a glance what threads I have posted in are up to.
