When I got the messahe yesterday, I nearly screamed.
There's a lot of artists that iTunes doesn't carry, and Limewire was the only way to get the songs without ripping and getting bad quality, or having to go out and buy their CD, if you could even find it.
Looks like I'll have to find somewhere else.
edit// Strike that last statement, I found one already.

According t one article I read, Limewire / Gnutella was still bigger than torrenting.
Since i don't pirate stuffs anyway, it doesn't bother me.

It saddens me that people don't realize software like this has far greater potential than illegal downloads. P2P has been used for countless legal things, is used and will be used for a long time.

I agree to some degree, but I'm not really interested in Limewire per say. More the opinion of people in this thread who seem to be wanting to ban all p2p sharing. I think banning Limewire is by far the wrong approach and the correct approach would be finding out WHY people want to illegally download, rather than stopping the media of sharing. Piracy will always exist, unless there's free stuff, which of course defeats the point of developping anything nowadays. Rather thn banning Limewire, torrents etc., why don't they invest all the money into researching the causes for illegal sharing and try to convince companies how to properly prevent it?

That would be money well wasted. The why is dead obvious: people are cheap, with a side dish of the item is no longer available on the market.

Yup.
I use to use Limewire, but people would commonly rename or make their own versions of the songs. I'm using this one thing my brother hooked me up with.
