I was inspired by a conversation with this guy to post this thread. How do you kids feel about manscaping? It seems much more commonplace acceptable now for men to do a bit more grooming than previously seen as acceptable. For instance, I can recall an episode of Seinfeld where there's much debate as to whether or not it's gay to shave your chest. Now, however, it's not uncommon to find guys who shave or wax regularly. How do you feel about this? Do you find it less "manly" or do you prefer to be nice and groomed?

If a guy wants me to shave my legs, he'd better be prepared to shave his chest. Excessive hairiness isn't hot, it's gross.

Of course I'm going to respond to this thread.
Since I do it, I think its perfectly acceptable, its not gay to want to have smooth skin. I think girls prefer it! Of course, I do swim so shaving is part of it, but I personally love the feeling after being shaven, smooth clean skin.

I have no problem with manscaping, to a degree. If a guy's waxing/shaving his legs, however, he's simply a joke. I don't even think "he" is an appropriate label at that point.

Keeping the business trimmed and tidy is one thing I would encourage (if I cared about other guys' swimsuit areas), but there's just no reason to go Brazilian unless your job distributes your work to rooms with saloon doors in the back of video stores. I don't even want to know how you know of that salon.

Back hair for sure needs to go. Everywhere else can just be trimmed or lightly shaven in the odd spot or two. I generally think its best to keep body parts of hair separate though, like if your back hair connects to your butt which connects to your thigh which connects to your leg, then somewhere in that chain of hair it should be shaven to keep the body parts separate But I might just be ocd with that since i know some people keep the wookie style hair and no one seems to care that much. lol Men have too much androgen hair to make shaving possible body-wide, you get way too many ingrown hairs since the skin on men is thicker(literally, its only like a few cell layers thicker, but its thicker wherever there is androgen hair) and the roots grow deeper. I know some men have good skin for it though so it's a lot easier for some than others to do it with little to no maintenance.

Back hair for sure needs to go. Absolutely! It's one of (if not the) most disgusting locations for hair on a guy. I think it would almost be a bit more acceptable if it were uniform and even like chest hair, but it's always so patchy.

ive taken my bf to get a manicure and pedicure. in fact i did that today cause he is going out to visit his family this afternoon and i wanted him to look and feel good. he is kinda shy going but if i go with him he thinks that people will just think i made him go. but i love his hands to be nice and good looking and he feels better with his feet cleaned up especially since we are both in skates a lot. personally i like seeing guys take good care of themselves. im not saying that my bf should be going to those places as much as me but like twice a year works good just to get nice and clean. its also a lot healthier. as for shaving the legs. i personally hate seeing guys with shaved legs and i do not think its acceptable unless its for a sport that you are competing at a high level for such as swimming. as for shaving "down there" on a guy absolutely not. only a girl should be doing that.

My favorite song says it best: When you see a deer you see Bambi and I see antlers up on the wall. When you see a lake you think picnics and I see a large mouth up under that log. You're probably thinkin' that you're gonna change me. In some ways well maybe you might. Scrub me down, dress me up, oh but no matter what remember I'm still a guy. [...] I'm still a guy by Brad PaisleyI was SO about to post that. I hate hair-naked guys. I prefer them not to shave chest or legs. Only thing I don't really like is a hairy back. Blech.

I dont see anything wrong with looking good. Doesnt make you less manly, just cleaner. Personally I keep my nail cut, shave, wear makeup, dye my hair. But if you call me gay in a negative way I will get annoyed. Wont hit you, that childish not manly
