Come on, come on don't be bashful. You know you loved this time of night when you were a child. So reveal them. Lets see...my father, when he wasn't out to sea in a foreign country for military work, he would read us Aesop's Fables. Ya know, those stories that usually have a moral to them especially a proverb at the end.The following was by far my favorite one of them all. The Wind and the Sun
The Wind and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger. Suddenly they saw a traveller coming down the road, and the Sun said: "I see a way to decide our dispute. Whichever of us can cause that traveller to take off his cloak shall be regarded as the stronger. You begin." So the Sun retired behind a cloud, and the Wind began to blow as hard as it could upon the traveller. But the harder he blew the more closely did the traveller wrap his cloak round him, till at last the Wind had to give up in despair. Then the Sun came out and shone in all his glory upon the traveller, who soon found it too hot to walk with his cloak on. MoralsPersuasion is better than force. or... Kindness effects more than severity. While my mother would sing a song. This was my favorite. Never Would Have Made It
Never would have made it, never could have made it, without you I would have lost it all, but now I see how you were there for me And I can say Never would have made it, Never could have made it, Without you I would have lost it all, But I now how I see how you were there for me and I can say I'm stronger, I'm wiser, I'm better, much better, When I look back over all you brought me through. I can see that you were the one that I held on to And I never Oh I never could have made it Oh I would have lost it all, oh but now I see how you were there for me

I don't think I ever had stories read to me, but there was a parrot-mobile above my bed that my mum would spin every night

My parents told me a short story they made up to make me go to sleep =(
"The Crow" The story was about if you don't go to sleep before midnight... a crow would come and stare at you threw your window. The purpose of the crow was to keep you awake and to learn the punishment of not sleeping.
Kinda scared me =(

^ worst story ever. and, you stay awake so your punishment is to stay awake? It was meant to make you go to sleep before he came. I realized there was no crow, so they just gave up really. My parent's weren't really "Story Tellers" lol.

I agree, they didn't seem to be much story tellers xD

I don't remember anything about who wrote them, but my dad read some awesome stories... all I remember is that one of them was about the gunfight at OK corral, and he had the awesomest way of saying "There ain't room for the two of us" or something like that.

We have this really thick book that has gold edges to it (so it looks like gold) and it's really nice and stuff. My mom used to read it. I think. I don't remember. It's been at least 10 years haha.

Before going to bed, I remember my daddy telling animal stories to me; like the time he was out in the woods and a fawn came up and sniffed him, or the time that he tamed a squirrel... We also had a giant book of dog stories; I loved those <3

Goodnight Moon was my absolute favorite as well. Loved that book. When we camped my father would always tell us ghost stories. There was always this once specific ghost he would tell us about; Isabel. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a pig ghost. Or usually a pig ghost. We must have heard a hundred stories about Isabel. Otherwise, I always used to have a tradition where my father had to pray with me before I went to sleep. I said a tradition kid prayer and then made up this one prayer and literally said it for years... "Thank you for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for the birds that sing, thank you God for everything. God bless mommy, daddy, Erin, David, Robyn, Adam, Kelly, Isaac, and everyone in the whole wide world except or the devil. Amen." After saying it for a year or two I could rattle it off so quick nobody could understand me. Still can, although I haven't said it in a long time now.
