You're like the Japanese warlords, you never give up. LOL

Didn't take him long to do the obvious after the second bomb was dropped did it?
The Russians invaded Japanese occupied Manchuria starting their first military operations against Japan on the same day that the second atomic bomb was dropped![/quote]
Oh, you mean the same Russians who they were hoping would act as intermediaries with the Americans?
Damn! Those opportunistic jerks. I bet War Council was pretty pissed when they heard.
You would think they would have gotten the hint when they were shunned by their historical adversaries.
We've been here before.
Every country wants to end the war peacefully.
That's why they ask the opposition to surrender.
You have no proof of that Japan communicated terms of surrender to the United States in the days, weeks or months prior to August 10th.
Why didn't they just make the call to the United States?
I'll show this paragraph to Umeda-san when I see him in Osaka next month.
I can see him now, closing his eyes, looking down and nodding his head at how gullible and ignorant people have again become.
Ripe for social manipulation again.
Believing whatever massages there sensibilities while ignoring the obvious facts.
It is not an insult, your just misguided because in your naivete you are under the impression that the Japanese people where accurately informed of what was actually happening with regards to the war.
Another article submitted by you and written by Communist/Socialist radical.
::yawn::
As I said before...I guess that didn't work out so well.
They didn't even make it to first base...Then they went and invaded Manchuria.
Whodathunk?
You're at war with the United States, their bombing your country...
Who you gonna call?
Russia?...Wrong answer.
You know...We should have just let them have their way.
They were nice folks, no different then anyone else.
Bataan death march, Pearl Harbor, comfort women, kamekazis?...Just minor lapses in judgment.
Whatever they wanted we should have given it to them.
Even if they never communicated their wishes.
Surely they would have been as accommodating. Right?
I mean look how charitable they were to Korea, Manchuria, Burma, the Philippines, Siam, Singapore, China and and all those other Asian/Pacific nations....
Okay, so maybe those are bad examples.
I mean really...how gullible does this William P. Meyers guy think people are...Sorry.
How am I suppose to know if Hitler would have surrendered or not?
Since it worked in Japan maybe it would have worked in Germany as well.
Who knows.
Who's fighting for the prestige of President Truman?
Certainly not me.
Many people during that time were not big fans of President Truman.
I'm neutral with regard to President Truman.
Your comparison is disjointed and illogical.
Are you saying that it is not possible to 'fight for the prestige' (whatever that means) for President Truman and understand the ramifications of nuclear warfare?
That's ridiculous in my opinion.
What you seem to be saying is that facts and the truth do not matter because it's all cloaked in the vagueness of history so why not just make up a scenario with a blend of fact and fiction in order to 'marginalize or criminalize' (whatever that means) them in the public opinion.
The ends justify the means?
In my opinion that is dishonest and far more dangerous than telling the truth.
I can't stand it. That mentality is corrupting and quite frankly evil in my opinion.
All governments attempt to manipulate public perceptions.
Why? To acquire power over the people.
Hitler, the Japanese Military Regime, Stalin, and other authoritarians, were and are masterful at it.
It is a critical tool of the Left.
It's becoming more difficult, but they are still successful at stirring up a concoction that panders to the emotion while stymieing reason.
If your position is as morally pure as you obviously believe, then you should not fear the facts and should not attempt to manipulate public opinion.
Finally a historian instead of some radical with a website and a keyboard.
A historian that specializes in the Holocaust...Cool!
Many isolationist believe America should have just stood on the sidelines and simply gave moral support to the victims of the holocaust and the countries of Europe that were being overrun by those nice guys in the funny helmets.
Anyway, he's a historian...that's a positive.
Oh lookie...The historian left out the fact that in April of 1945 the Soviet's officially denounced the neutrality pact with the Japanese that they had signed with the Japanese after their war with each other 4 years earlier in order to avoid having to be committed to an additional obligation of neutrality for a period of five more years beginning in April of 1946. Of course that too, the betrayal of the pact, according to the neutral historian, was due to 'strong prodding' by the United States. Have you noticed that it is always the fault of the United States, such an evil and hideous country we are.
Isn't this one of the periods when you said the Japanese were making overtures to the Russians about being go-betweens with the United States?
You would think denouncing the treaty combined with the cold shoulder they received might have led them to consider giving the United States a call directly.
Oh well...live and learn I guess.
I love it when historians use words like 'dramatically' and 'utterly' (destroyed is not enough).
I have more I can say and research I can do, but I'm tired.
Maybe tomorrow.
