Goodbye GT

Soon I will be packing up and saying my last goodbyes before I leave. And will no longer be on GT or Facebook or any fun sites (to my knowledge). I'll be given a special blessing which will make me an official Missionary, and I will then have to follow the Missionary rules.

Some of them include not swimming, no watching movies, only using the Internet once a week to email parents, etc. So I will need to follow the rules that won't make our trip miserable for myself.

So anyway, for those interested, this is sort of my official "say goodbye to Robert" thread (as requested by Ryan, the admin).

I am of course playing every computer game I have one last time. Listening to the music I cannot listen to when I become a Missionary one last time, checking out GT and Facebook one last time, etc.

Has anyone else made a sacrifice for the Military or something like that where they had to give literately everything up so they could serve for a few years? I cannot wait, I'm excited to do this. However, I'm still nervous of course.

While you are expecting a sarcastic and bashing reply from me to this thread, you will not get one.

I feel that this is a very good thing you're doing, honestly. You've been very strong about your beliefs even though people have spent 20 pages on here week after week debating with you, but you have a strong foundation to what you believe in and why you believe in it, and it is important. We all need something to hold on to, we all have our own versions of hopes and beliefs, and while some of us lay it on fairly shaky foundation that is easily put into doubt by stress from people, yours seems to be quite solid, and you should be proud of that.

I'm sure that these two years will teach you a lot about life, people and hardships. You are still young, and you have a lot to learn about how the world works, and I hope that these two years give you a kickstart and throw you into adulthood and make you as strong a person as your beliefs. I hope that you are able to deliver your message well, and that people listen to you with patience as you have taken out time from your personal life to help others and spread the message of your faith hoping that others have something to hold onto just as you do in times of dire need.

If you come across any obstacles, I as a person and GT as a community will always be here to help you. If you feel the need to reach out to us for words of motivation or if you feel that you need some communication time with us, most of us will still be here, talking about Pepsi vs Cola and which the best browser is and how Syko is a noob.

I wish you all the very best and hope these two years are as fruitful as you wish them to be.

Well i have to say it shows very good character to give up the things you enjoy in order to help others. I find the rules i little extreme but i suppose their there for a reason.

All the very best to you, Robert. It's going to be a little strange not to see a post from you. But, you have important and useful work to do. I hope to someday, have the same commitment to a worthy cause.

Can't believe you were that Millsberry 'brat', I thought would be gone within a week or so! Look how you've grown!

I do hope everything in your new life is a great success. Also, I do hope you can drop by from time to time with your internet allowance time, to say Hi and let us know how you're doing.
