Members email, and IP

When viewing my members in Betazone, and looking at a new member that just signed up.

I notice that I cant see their email address or IP address, like I can in our original forum.

I usually like to do an IP check, prior to letting new members in.

Am I looking in the wrong place ?

No. v5 doesn't allow you to see these things. In order to give members privacy, administrators will no longer be able to see IPs, e-mail addresses, and etc. So no, you're not looking in the wrong place. It's no longer provided to you.

Just realised!

This means no mass emails to members anymore!

Shame, as we found sending News pages and updates via mass emails, very useful!

Mass e-mails will still be there for you. You will also have the ability to detect accounts with the same e-mail. According to Proboards, you should still have a good amount of functionality.

The only thing is that you can't see the e-mails, ips, or etc.

Don't understand why Admins can't see IP's anymore it becomes useful and someone's IP doesn't give away any personal information so not sure that would "invade privacy". Emails I understand, but IP's?

It seems that we are getting important features taken away from us, and with this "Global Login" thing v5 is just looking worse and worse for me.

I love ProBoards but with v5 I'm beginning to question it.

Found the email all members, and the email staff. Testing it!

This took me all of 5 seconds to find on the member profile page; quicker than copypasting it into the search member part of the admin area.

Edit: That screenshot shows the actions available when viewing my own (admin) account. These are the actions when viewing a normal member.

If you choose to search the security log, you can see a partial IP for those actions. It's easiest to find spammers by them creating a new member account like this. You can ban a member's IP address (you just can't see it).

And, of course, the global login system means that you can ban their global account from your forum so they have to make a new one of those as well as re-register on your forum and at this point you're basically at the same level as V4. Bear in mind that their global account uses their email address, so you're basically banning their email address at the same time.

If I recall correctly, they were going to integrate stopforumspam.com into this somehow. With only being able to see a partial IP and no email, I'm not sure how this will work. I haven't spotted anything yet that looks obvious.

Agreed! You can see a part of the IP. Not all though!

Just to clarify. You have all the same functionality (and more) that you had in v4 regarding emails and IP addresses. The only difference is you can't see the actual emails or IP addresses as they are private information. Shrike's screenshots above show great examples of the functionality you have and how seeing the actual IP isn't needed to perform actions related to it. Email addresses are now private for increased security, since they are used for logging in now.
