As you have posted here I assume you are using this plugin? If so, simply add them to the list of smilies you already have. All posters should be able to use all the smilies. If not, you can add a certain amount of additional smilies to PB's standard set in the Admin Panel. I can't found smiles on admin panel. In your Admin Panel, select 'Theme Manager', then select a theme. Then click on the 'Images' tab, and the 6th section down is the Smilies, and at the bottom of that is the 'Add New Image' option. You will need to do the same to each theme you want the smilies to be available on.

Version 3.1.3 is now available. Extra smilies can (at last) now be used in the chat box.

I can't see the chat box on your test forum. Do you have it disabled?

Hello TodgeWhen you say chat box, are you referring to the ProBoards Shoutbox and if so, it is enabled. It doesn't seem to be enabled for guests to see. Do you have the template variable wrapped in an {if} so only members can see it?

Hello Lynx The only thing I have wrapped in an {if} is this: Layout Templates > Home and this within: $[news] {if $[current_user.is_member]} $[shoutbox] {/if} and also, the Shoutbox is disabled for guests. Removing the wrapped {if} around $[shoutbox] makes no difference.

Hi, aRMY83. If Todge was indeed referring to the shoutbox (as to why he can't see it), unless he has an account on your test board, that's why he can't see it - that {if} is making it show just for members. He may not be able to debug your issue unless, at least temporarily, you comment out or remove the {if} surrounding the $[shoutbox] variable. I'm not sure if Todge will need to be able to post as a guest to narrow down the problem, but he (I think) will most likely at least need to see the shoutbox.

Hello Lynx I just removed the {if} surrounding the $[shoutbox] variable temporarily and see if that helps Todge in the debug process. Also, I have enabled (temporarily) the Shoutbox to allow guest shouts. Appreciate the input and greatly appreciated.

Also, I have enabled (temporarily) the Shoutbox to allow guest shouts. Appreciate the input and greatly appreciated. It is working, for me at least... But there is an issue.. You have reversed the order of the shoutbox entries. When a new post is made, the code looks at the last 3 entries and changes any smilie codes to the smilies themselves, with your shoutbox being reversed, the code is looking at the wrong entries. if you can tell me what code/plugin you are using to reverse the shoutbox posts I'll see if I can allow for it in the plugins' code.

Hello Todge I'm not using any code/plugin to reverse the shoutbox posts. This is what I'm using: (ProBoards Shoutbox settings)

Hello TodgeIt's showing two Select Smiley drop down menus: Either one works just fine other than those two as mentioned above. Also noted that when I do select a smilie then click send button, it takes a few moments to load that smilie and same goes for if I click on X to delete the smilie. Edit: disregard image above as I had both versions 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 enabled. It now works just fine with the exception of the slow loading.

The only way to make the smilies appear for those that do not post them, is to constantly check the shout box. I originally set that to 2 seconds, plus a delay of 1.5 seconds for when you actually make a post, meaning it could take up to 3.5 seconds after posting for the smilie to appear. I have cut that time in half, so if you download and install it again, it should be noticeably quicker.
