Ubbc in custom profile fields?

Okay, so looking at Custom Fields I finally clicked on the view/edit link and got the option of using:

Light-BBCode Parsed

If someone could tell me what this is I guess it might do what I want?

Oddly the V5 conversion ate part of my above post.

I haven't checked what can be used, but my guess is that you can use UBBC to modify colour, weight, and size of test, maybe a hyperlink, but not images.

So I guess from your reply 'Light-BBCide Parsed' it's like a restricted version of the square bracket code we usually use? But I don't have to do anything different to use it?

Yep, just regular UBBC, they just limit which tags will work in those areas

link seems to work, color/colour doesn't. And Googling really isn't helping me work out what Light BBCode Parsed is so I'm not even sure how to try and fix it...

Light BBCode is what the Shoutbox uses. This prevent users from placing BBCode in a custom profile field that would break they layout of your forum. You wouldn't want people posting giant images or complex tables or lists in a profile field. However things like font styling are exactly what you might need. Things like bold, italics, etc.

Completely agreed, breaking the forum with something like that would be bad ^^

Is there a list somewhere of what counts as light BBCode? Is it something that is fixed on a grand internet scale? Or have you guys decided? Can color be added?

Is this fixed on a grand internet scale or can I put a feature request in for a future V5 update to include 'color' in the light BBCode?

I can add it to a list of possible future upgrades. Color certainly seems like something that you should be able to edit (maybe even for the shoutbox, update light-BBCode everywhere). This will likely be a v5.x update, not at launch.

I second this! When there are many people in Shout, it helps to have members post in a different color, so you can keep track.
