[Template] Add avatars to shoutbox

For the sake of keeping things organized in here so they're easier to find, this was requested by some guys in another thread.

Admin Home > Themes > Layout Templates

Choose Shoutbox and then the tab Individual Posts. For people who can do HTML and all: there's a variable you can choose at the right:
current_user -> avatar (or small/medium version). This will import the image.

For people who just want to have it imported, replace the whole template with:

            {if $[shoutbox_post.edited]}<span class="edited">*</span>{/if}
        </span>
        $[shoutbox_post.delete_button]
        <div class="ui-helper-clearfix"></div>
    </div>
{/foreach}

This will look like this (I don't have an avatar, that's why it shows default avatar):

Are you sure you copied it from top to bottom and pasted in the right template? (Make sure you choose the tab "Individual Posts").

Ya. first time I did it I put code in wrong place and shoutbox went poof. I fixed it by recopying the code from another skin.And put your code in the right place..

All good now..



Next question.. How can we make the avatar just in the shoutbox smaller? Maybe 24x24 or 32x32?

Xikeon question for you about your code is there a way of making the avatar smaller then what it is ?

Well I have this code and love the avatars at their current size. If changes are made to make them smaller, and I have the current existing template in place, will that make it no longer work if it's fixed to make them smaller? I wouldn't want them any smaller, I think 50x50px is small enough thanks.   Oh and since I have 60 plus themes you can be assure that I don't want to have to go through 60 of them to update the shoutbox avatar section in each one.

Thanks. So even if it was altered to make the avatars smaller, the one I have will still work? I'd sure hate to modify 60 plus themes because my template no longer worked for them. Lol

It's not a plugin but a template mod. Just keep the template you have and everything will be just fine.
