I still use the semi-obsolete square screen and would like to continue using it until it breaks down. i am rather retro with tech stuff.
I am a Co-Admin on www.tunesandspoons1.proboards.com/ and a Global Mod at biglinmarshall.proboards.com/index.cgi NT&S was accidentally upgraded to the BetaZone format, while BigLin's forum remained with the standard format. As you see my retro square screen viewer has trouble seeing entire posts on NT&S while I have no problem on Lin's forum. I took a screen shot of PBS below and I don't seem to have the problem I have at NT&S, despite the BetaZone change.
I'm really a bit technophobic, but I would like to resolve viewing problems at NT&S!

You can change the width to a percent width instead of fixed width. Just go to Admin > Themes > Easy Theme Creator, and near the bottom you can change the forum width from 940px to something like 90%

I entered 850px and it looks much better now! For me it might be better to reduce it to 810px, but I'll have to check with Jenn the Admin and see how other members are doing. What's the px setting here?

px means pixels. You can enter either pixels or percent. For example "800px" or "90%"

As Patrick stated it is a very good idea to use a percentage (and much better than using pixels, in my opinion.) This way the forum will adjust itself for each individual's screen. Not everyone is going to be viewing your forum with a small screen and it will look better on wider screens as well as your own so everyone wins.
I would go with 90% and then you can adjust the percent as needed.

px means pixels. You can enter either pixels or percent. For example "800px" or "90%" Thanks Patrick! I read your post too hastily! I now adjusted the 920px to 810px and only a couple millimeters of the posts at NT&S are off screen now. I don't know how many of our members had this problem with these 10 year old non wide screen viewers.
You don't by chance know the px setting of this forum do you! The setting here works great for me!

This one is a percent. Try 90%.

This one is a percent. Try 90%. I assume that means around 800px to 827px. There is no way to enter 90% at NT&S is there? <LABEL title="Forum Width">Forum Width</LABEL><INPUT class=width-6 value=810px type=text jQuery17208201221734804747="66"> <LABEL title=Gradients>Gradients</LABEL> <INPUT class=width-20 value=http://images.proboards.com/v5/gradients/wave.png type=text jQuery17208201221734804747="67"> </IMG><INPUT class="bg-upload ui-widget" type=file name=background-image jQuery172082012204747="70"></SPAN> </SPAN></DIV></DIV> I really appreciate your help!

You should be able to enter "90%" right in the same box.

This one is a percent. Try 90%. I entered 90% in the box and it was a complete disaster! The forum looks like this. I can't even find the box to reenter the 810px I had there! Help! www.tunesandspoons1.proboards.com/board/28

Once they get this issue fixed, I would say between 80% to 90% in the forum width box. I've set ours to 80% and it works like a charm.

Best as I can tell, nothing can be edited at the moment. That said, my forum has reset itself to look fine, so give the admin area a shot and see if it works.
Nevermind. It went back to the choas form when I began to rework my edits.
