Is it possible to make the default blank rather than 'enter a description here' because we don't want descriptions with all our threads. If you want people to know what the box is for maybe put 'Description:' infront much like the Subject box has 'Subject:'
Related to not wanting a description in every thread I noticed that you can't remove a desc completely
If I delete and then save a desc it just reverts to as if I'd never deleted it.
I can put a blank space in and then save, but this creates a blank line between the topic title and any labels on the thread which is less than ideal.
Is there anyway it's possible to make it so you can edit a desc to be blank?
And also is there any way we could use html or bbc to do colours and italics and strikethroughs and things?
EDIT: It only seems to insert the default description text in some boards. It does it two of our IC boards (these are dead normal) but hasn't in our application board (which is a private board)

Hi Shorty, realised I forgot to tag you in the above. Any idea what might be causing it to put the enter description here bit. solariaweyr.proboards.com/threads/recentThere's a thread right near the top with it, and one (Midnight Madness) if you scroll further down. In different categories, started by different people. The delete problem is harder to demo as our threads with labels are in a restricted access board.

Can you tell me what browser you were using when it saved the placement text? Also, for not having the placeholder text. I had 'Description:' in front before, and was asked to remove it, and put the placeholder text like the search has. So that's what I did. It seems kind of contradictory thought that you don't want the placeholder text inside the input, but you are perfectly okay with the word description in front of the input. They both do the exact same thing. Unless the only reason you oppose the placeholder text is because it is setting as the description. So yeah please elaborate. Also can you tell me the names of the boards that are doing it. And possibly make them open, so I can post(and then delete) to test it. Thanks

I was totally down with 'Description' I think the first version was 'Thread Description' and I think I instigated the asking for 'Thread' to be removed but anyway Either is fine with me theoretically as yes the only reason I oppose the placeholder text is that it's inputting The boards with the placeholder text inputting are open, three that I can find easily. (2 different members, 3 different global accounts, 3 different boards) solariaweyr.proboards.com/thread/7390/little-boy-growingsolariaweyr.proboards.com/thread/7359/midnight-madness-junior-weyrlingssolariaweyr.proboards.com/thread/7345/mischievous-little-gather-song-ehlunaI'll ask the two members who created those threads which browsers they're using and let you know. It's the other issue that's only visible on closed board. And I just realised actually the label thing doesn't matter so the hidden board thing doesn't matter. You can't delete a description totally. (I've tried it in other locations same result, ff and chrome) If you delete everything in the description box (so that the placeholder text reappears) and then save the post the old description is still there. Sorry for not explaining properly above.

I've done the requests board (top link) allowing guests to make threads. Let me know when you don't need it anymore.

I can't replicate it. I tried multiple things in multiple browsers. Did this ever happen to you? If not, can you ask you members exactly what they did? Because it shouldn't do that as the placeholder text isn't actually a value of the input.

Nope never happened to me (I have the can't delete a desc problem)
I'll keep an eye out for it happening to anyone else and let you know when I hear back from the two members that created those threads.
Thanks for looking into it ^^

One used IE and said she did the same as she always did. Navigate to forum, click create Thread, didn't touch the description bit at all.

If we could delete a description it'd be less of a problem obviously.
I'll keep an eye out to see if it happens anymore.

Shorty, Serems to be an IE problem, all the threads with the thread description were posted in IE, and the member who exclusively used IE and had this problem with all her started threads just got herself a new browser and the thread she started didn't display the placeholder text. Is there going to be a way to delete thread description text? Thanks
