Display Name Manager

Per the Plugin rules, I have verified that there is no existing plugin relevant to the intended effect desired. [At once time I used this plugin for a different purpose, but it is still not related.]

This is actually a very generic plugin thus no images, specific url, or the like are necessary.

Plugin Specs:

Name*: "Display Name Manager"
Purpose: In the simplest form, this plugin will remove the ability for one to modify their display name. Only staff or specific users (exempt users?) may edit at any time.
Deadline: None


* My attempts to create this very plugin were futile, as per this thread with Tim. I would have called it the DNM but since I will not be able to develop it call it what you wish.

I would like to ask out of kindness that the user who develops this leave it in "build" mode OR PM/email me the script so I can learn from it the context of the ProBoards proprietary language vs the incorporation of JS or JQuery.

I have used that one and it works brilliantly, but in my efforts to create a plugin that not too intricate, I failed, so I was hoping someone could make one that only does what I was asking for (no additional post count required, etc.). Thus why I said it was not related, per se. If it won't or can't be done due to this similar plugin that's fine. No big deal.

But could you outline HOW it's not related? Because you have given very little information on your desired plugin and from what you have stated, it sounds exactly like the plugin Wormopolis linked you. You need to explain how you want yours different since the differences are not apparent to us

My apologies to you both. In my mental absence I did not even see that plugin when browsing thru the 17 pages in the library nor on the thread for existing plugins. I was referring to Wormopolis plugin which had add'l bells and whistles (rewards, point per post, which rank gets what post, etc.). This one honestly does exactly what I want, but I have no way to view the build process to see how it was done, which was my original purpose for trying to build the plugin myself.
