I slept for a full four hours and can't remember having had any nightmares. I ate breakfast, even if it was just a sliced banana sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar and a glass of juice. I walked my little one to school today because I figured the fresh air would do me good. As long as James stays strong I think I might be able to, too.
Justine is going to visit him this afternoon. I'm a little anxious, but nowhere near as bad as I was yesterday. Thanks for all the continued support, guys. It's nice to have a place to talk about all this. I honestly would be a lot worse off if I hadn't came here. I love GT.

Glad to hear it, Chani. His recovery is going to take awhile, hon. It's good to keep yourself busy, keep in touch with those who can keep you informed, and reach out for support as needed.

Justine just informed me that his fever is back as well as one of his cultures and he has pneumonia. They have apparently been giving him "everything they can" in an attempt to break it. I'm so upset right now. Everyone keeps telling me these things that are meant to make me feel better, but they only make things worse. I just need to stop talking to people before I blow up on someone who's just trying to help.
"I'm sure he'll be fine." Oh, yeah? What, did you see it in your crystal ball or are you a medical expert now?
"He's a fighter." Michael was a fighter, too.
"Worrying isn't going to do you any good." How useful! Because I was totally worrying just for its perceived health benefits. Now that you have so graciously enlightened me with the knowledge that worrying isn't going to magically make James better, I'll stop. Thank you, sage one.
I haven't said any of those things, but thinking them alone probably qualifies me as a horrible person. I'm just losing it over here. Every time we get good news it's followed by news that terrifies me.

The little one's in bed now and it's just me with my thoughts. In the morning I'll walk her to school and be alone for another eight hours. She asks about James, too. She's so used to telling him about her school day and wishing him sweet dreams and him listening in when I read to her every night. She's too young to understand what's going on.
It's going to be another all-nighter for me.

There are so many aspects of this whole situation you can be negative about @kipp ... but focus on the positives right now ... the #1 being, he's still alive ... and you do have hope.

Quite frankly there are dozens of things I wish I could say to make it better. However there really isn't anything anyone can really say. When dealing with grief people are at lost as to what to say, so they grasp at straws and tiresome cliches. What they really want to say, they can't express in words but they don't realize they don't have to. These people are just trying to let you know their there for you but they just don't know how to say it.

His fever is gone now. They're switching his antibiotics so whatever infection(s) he has doesn't have a chance to build up a resistance to them. I read a lot of material on pneumonia last night and it honestly didn't help at all. I'm medically dense.
My OCD's taking over. Routines make me feel better, so I've planned out every day for the next week on an hour-by-hour schedule using a Google spreadsheet. I've been told to take this "one day at a time" so here's my version of that!

I don't know. People seem to be avoiding me. It's like they're afraid I'm going to burst into tears if they make more than small-talk. xD Am I really being that whimpy? I guess I need to reinforce my image of toughness; just go out and wrestle a ravenous bear or something.
