So in June when I came back to Facebook I used the Facebook app on my android phone to chat. About a month later Facebook started whining about me not using their new messenger app.
Just a month or so ago Facebook decided to refuse to let me access chat with the Facebook app but insisted I install a new messenger app. I looked the app but it seems like a waste of space on my phone.
Who uses this messenger app? Do you like it?

i use it. It does feel a bit odd having to use an app just to use a native feature of the desktop Facebook, but it just sits in my 'Social Media' folder on my phone, so its not a massive impact on my life.

I've been using it for a while. A lot of people were complaining about privacy issues but most have been debunked. Honestly, there are apps out there that request more access and no one voices concern over them. I do find chat heads slightly annoying though. Luckily they can be disabled.

I don't send or receive messages enough on Facebook to justify an entirely separate app. It didn't bother me that they added an app, but it was very annoying that they forced it on you to use the same functionality you always had before. It makes me want to use Facebook for messaging even less, just out of sheer spite.

It asks me to use it. But Unlike the iOS and Android. Windows Phone users are not forced to use it. Yet. So I just use the in-app messenger. Without the use of those stupid stickers. Meh.

I pretty sure the general consensus is that everyone hates the separation of the facebook app and the messenger one.
I use it though. It's so much easier to contact people through facebook messaging.

I am pleased I am not the only one irritated with the unnecessary additional app to use a major feature of Facebook. I currently use the web version of messenger because I'm stubborn. I was also half hoping that someone would know of a way around this nonsense for the Android phone, but I fear there is no solution.

When it was first advertised I didn't bother downloading it, as I didn't much see the point. I did come across something on Reddit ages ago that gave an explanation for separating the two (which made sense when I read it), but I can't say I recall what it was. xD Either way, I actually quite like it. I happen to use GoSMS for my text messages, so I rather like the aesthetics when I wake up or check my phone and have popups for texts and FB messages underneath one another. Plus when I'm using my phone and having a conversation via FB I don't have to keep checking the app, as the popups appear on my home screen, and I can also hear and see the unique notification noises and lights when the screen is off.

I already have the important people I chat with on various forms of texting apps and like AIM otherwise they can wait till I get online to see it.

I have been using it for almost a year and quite like it. Never had issues. Doesn't request any more access than any other app.

Facebook chat is important for me, have relatives around the world so it's either that or whatsapp for me mainly.

FB chat goes to my texts. Its integrated into People, which if someone messages me on facebook it'll go right to my text messenger instead. There are 2 areas. It shows who's online and who isn't in my contacts. I just love the integration on windows phone.
