I saw a theme where instead of just having the forum members name lasting for the last post, it also showed the forum avatar as well. Is that an easy thing to add?

I don't know exactly what you want / how you want it, but this should give you head start. Just let me know if you need some changes (avatar could be bigger, text can be removed, etc).
Go to Themes > Layout Templates > Board, tab Board List Go to line 39, which should be:
by $[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by]<br /> Enter a new line and add the following code:
<right>$[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by.avatar_small]<br /></right>
A small avatar will now appear between the lines 'by username' and the date, and be centred on the right. If you want a bigger avatar, just change the text 'small' into 'medium'.
Good luck (:
Edit: If you don't want the text 'by username' to show, just add <!-- (...) --> to line 39, so it looks like this:
<!-- by $[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by]<br /> -->

If you'd like the avatar to be clickable (go to the user's profile) and show their username on hover, do this instead:
<a href="$[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by.href]" title="$[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by.name]">$[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by.avatar_small]</a>

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. Right now I am using the small avatar. Is there any smaller option below small?

I believe that's the smallest default size you can use, but you can force it to be smaller using CSS.
.container .latest.last .avatar_size_small { max-width: 50px; max-height: 50px; }
Add it to the bottom of your stylesheet at Admin > Themes > Advanced Style & CSS.
Change the max-width and max-height values to whatever size you want the avatar to be.
I think that will work. Let me know if it's not what you want.

There is actually the quote size which is $[board.last_thread.last_post.created_by.avatar_quote] which is 30x30 I believe.
