So Thursday was my first night working everything. And wow, I was thrown right into it all. My co worker wanted to teach me a few things and get the feel of everything, but we got slammed, and I had to work the register, took quite a lot of patience from customers and a billion sorrys from me. Lol. Told them this is my first night working and I've never worked with the cash register before. And wow. Was it really easy to do. I was terrified with the register until I was basically forced to do it, and it wasn't that bad. There were a few things that I had issues with and a very very rare fluke thing happened, and I don't even remember what it was. But yeah, I had to find the games in the drawers and wow, took me a good solid 5 minutes to find it. Its all alphabetical order, good enough. BUT! certain games are named different. Like "The last of us" wouldn't start with The, but with Last. And a Disney game would start with Disney. He said I did a great job, not bad for being thrown into it sink or swim and I swam, fell under a little bit, came back up. But I feel I did good. Could have done a lot better. But not bad for my first night. Oh and I got paid today. Yay!! 20 dollars!! Lol. Only 2 days in the pay period isn't gonna get me anywhere. But, its something at least. I'd figure they would hold onto it for at least a month to let it build up, which I wouldn't of cared. But this 20 can get food!

Awesome, it's a good start. It is. Just gotta work harder and become a better people person and not get embarrassed when I don't need to be. Haha. I was turning red in the face quite a lot, and feel very hot and timid. Lol.

It's perfectly normal to be nervous on one's first day on a new job. When we're nervous we tend to make mistakes. That's normal, too. Most folks will be very understanding and even try to help. Most of them have been there and done that themselves. You'll relax as you get more accustomed to what you're doing and what's required. You're doing just fine!

Oh, yes. I remember my first ever "real" job (not babysitting or something). It's totally normal to be nervous and afraid of the cash register (when I started working, it was in the days before everything was super-computerized, and my boss had a ten-key register system O.o).
Congrats, and best of luck, @dmage!

Yay Nick! I'm so excited for you! And glad about your first day. Sometimes being thrown in is the best way to learn anything. Otherwise you'd just be scared the whole time.

That stinks that you are only working once a week. Did you hire in that way? Do they have any plans in increasing your hours?
