Forum URL: christmasweyrnew5.proboards.comForum Name: Christmas Weyr Description: A non-canon Weyr set in the Northern Continent, we include the 6 Dragon colors (white considered canon here), however there is involvement with other things like things of Earth; but our site focuses on Dragonriders Of Pern. Desired Outcome of Rate: I would like ideas on how to improve my site; there are only 2 members (yes counting myself) I’d like to know how to improve to get more.

I like the idea of your forum, but the colors were really bright and made it difficult to read.

1) In my opinion, I really don't like the dark green background. You should instead use one of the default backgrounds given by Proboards by default or get a seamless background from the net.
2) The dimensions of your banner are too big. The image in your banner does not fit because of this. So, I would suggest to reduce the banner dimensions (preferably height), get an image which fits the theme of your site of the same dimension and use that as the banner.
3) While the forum icons that you have used are good, I would suggest to reduce their dimensions a bit. (60 x60 perhaps ?)
4) The Board descriptions are huge, they should be shortened. Catchy, to the point descriptions are the best. You can give the details of the board in a thread within the board itself and then sticky it.

I like the idea of your forum, but the colors were really bright and made it difficult to read. Just a reminder to everyone who might read this and not just LINDA. Try to point out your likes and dislikes and try to give suggestions as to what they might try to make it better. Was it certain text or all text on the forum. In other words, give some real thought into your critique and be helpful. Thanks

The colours are clashing. The red and green instantly puts me off of the forum when I come to the page. Sometimes complementary colours can work well together, but often the contrast is too jarring. I would recommend taking a look at this link or research basic colour theory. I quite like your banner, but it is much smaller than the table it resides in. I usually prefer to see a banner that fills the entire table. The text is easy to read, but the links are hard to distinguish from the content as they are the same colour. I would choose a different shade for your links and maybe have a differing hover for your menu links. You also have a lot of forum boards, but they have little posts in them. It might be worthwhile to condense them until you have more activity. I like your on/off icons, but the size of them causes there to be a lot of open space of red on the screen. It might help to make them smaller or choose a different icon. Take what I say with a grain of salt. Hopefully some of this is useful to you. Good luck!

thank you all for your reviews. They are much appreciated; I will look into maybe shortening some of the descriptions; but as to the themes I looked at the Christmas themed ones and not one really seemed to in my opinion look good for idea I'm going for in the theme.
coolcoolcool as to clashing colors does that mean you think the red and green of Christmas are clashing? I was going for the red and green as they are the colors of Christmas which is the ideals behind the site

Then you can add green and red colour through other places, such as UBBC, on/off icons, link colours, the banner, etc. There are many small places you can add colour that go along way to developing a festive theme that is easier on the eyes. As it is right now it is overpowering and the green in the background clashes too much with the red in the foreground.

To me white/grey says the admin didn't really care or it goes with the theme behind the site; but with Christmas it doesn't
