I was thinking about my music library today and I realized that it's been at least 3 years since I've actively looked for any new artists to add. Anything that I've added since that time has been either a Robert Pollard side project or an individual song heard on a TV show. I've also found myself getting bored of my collection, since I've heard all these albums so many times before. If I choose an album to play, there's a 90% chance it will be one of these: - One of the many custom GBV/Pollard playlists I've assembled
- The Dresden Dolls - self-titled
- Fire Ants - Save the World
- Future of the Left - Curses!
- Guided by Voices - Cool Planet, Motivational Jumpsuit, or an EP
- Mclusky - The Difference Between Me and You Is That I'm Not on Fire
- Modest Mouse - Building Nothing out of Something
- Tobin Sprout - Waxnails
That's it. That might as well be my whole collection. My only motivation for listening to those, I think, is that they're really good albums that I haven't played enough. But history suggests I'll get bored of all of those, too, after a little while. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, where would you recommend going to find new artists?

Yes, I've had my music since 2007, and I tend to skip over them. A lot. 800 songs worth. I end up skipping over ALL of them. So, been trying to find more music. Now that I am into Hardstyle. I've got 10 songs, that are 10.35 hours total. Since they are pod casts and about an hour or more each. Yep. Pretty much ^ that. Nothings really changed. I need more music. I've got music I downloaded from my phone in an app, but I have not moved it to my computer yet.

Due to my old 120gb iPod succumbing to my terrible treatment of it, i've been stuck with the music I can fit on my phone - it's a playlist of the 850 or so songs I like the most...unfortunatley that's all I listen to unless I listen to music on my laptop (which isn't that often). If I do listen to artists, then it's usually just a few select bands. I've become a bit staid recently

Youtube. Related videos oftentimes have different bands. Maybe you'll like Hozier, epic:

Various independent netlabels on the internet can be a good source too. There's bunches of those labels one can find on The Internet Archives. For the rest the ones mentioned above by Hero

I've found tons of new artists by looking through the What Are You Listening To thread in the Game Board.

Actually in all seriousness you should study artists you listen to since most famous people like to try to bring up other muscians that think they are good you may not know about. Not sure if you do or not just suggesting it.
