I have a pretty complicated question here, but to summarize it, I have a private forum that is shared between just my friend and I. I have hidden all the boards, the shoutbox, etc, anything to keep wandering people from even trying to join (despite registrations are closed). But I was wondering, is there any way that I could make it so that guests/non logged in people see one theme only, that would basically just be a black background, picture, and the log-in button, but still maintain a logged in member's warm, welcoming, full-out board?
Without the clutter, I essentially just want to know how (if possible) to make a single, dark page, everything centered, with an image and log in button that guests (and us, when we aren't logged in) get, without interfering with the actual member forum. Any ideas? Or people who could possibly code that kind of screen?

But I was wondering, is there any way that I could make it so that guests/non logged in people see one theme only, that would basically just be a black background, picture, and the log-in button, but still maintain a logged in member's warm, welcoming, full-out board? Without the clutter, I essentially just want to know how (if possible) to make a single, dark page, everything centered, with an image and log in button that guests (and us, when we aren't logged in) get, without interfering with the actual member forum. Any ideas? Or people who could possibly code that kind of screen? Assuming you don't want to just put it in maint. mode so just your friend and you only have access to login? (Your friend would have to be staff)
If you don't want the maint. mode page then you can make a custom page and make it your home page, where all guests and members not logged in will see. Once you and your friend are logged in you will see your regular board.
That would be pretty simple. Go create a custom page which is naming the custom page. Pick a layout or just pick the first option which is for someone who wants to create their own layout. And then you'll want to select no to: Embed custom page in Forum Wrapper
Now if you picked the basically blank layout (first one) then you could follow these instruction:
Click the html tab and you'll see some default coding in there including some css you can edit.
Below zone one (you'll see $[zone_1] in the default coding) you could add something like this:
<div id="my_home_page"> <div id="my_image"> <div id="my_login_out"> {if !$[current_user.is_member]} <li><a href="https://login.proboards.com/login/307880732/">Login</a></li> {else} <li><a href="https://login.proboards.com/logout/307880732/">Logout</a></li> {/if} </div> </div> </div>
Now this is just a quick mock up of the css you could use to style that: (you could add it onto the style sheet that is there in the default coding:
#my_home_page{ background-color:#999999; height:440px; width:440px; padding:20px; margin:auto; text-align:center; } #my_image{ background-image:url(http://i657./uu300/EliteList/500x500%20and%20other%20odd%20shapes/LK1_zps2068eb49.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; height:400px; width:400px; margin:auto; } #my_login_out{ background-color:#777777; width:300px; height:30px; position:relative; top:170px; padding:8px 4px 4px 4px; border-radius: 25px; margin:auto; } #my_login_out a{ color:#eeeeff; font-size:18px; }
Now if you want the whole background to be that black you can just change this line.....
body { background-color: $[background_color]; color: $[text_color]; font-family: $; }
in the default css to this....
body { background-color: #000000; color: $[text_color]; font-family: $; }
---------------
Anyway, Once you get it the way you want it to look, click on the settings tab and there you'll see an option to set your custom page as your home page. So, I hope that will help you get started.

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed! I'll be able to edit this to my liking from here. You've been a big help! Glad I could help and have fun making that custom page to your liking. I did forget to tell you that you need to change the log in and logout (really don't need the logout, though) link to your site. To get the login id you can just log out and then click to login and copy the url that shows up in your address bar on your browser.
I'm talking about these numbers in the link in blue as you have a unique number for your forum:
<li><a href="https://login.proboards.com/login/307880732/">Login</a></li>
If you don't particularly want to log out to get that number then just right click on the login text and then view the "element".
On IE you'd be looking for what I circled in red and in Chrome/FF and other browsers it is similar.

As a tip: The easiest way I found to get the number is to just hover your mouse over the Login (if logged out) or Logout (if logged in) link and look in the lower left of your screen and get the number from the status window: Just pointing out another method for future reference.
