I know I'm not the only one who seems to try and like people's replies in messages... How many of you would like the option to like private messages?

Not me. Already there's a decline in actual conversation in social media, with the like button replacing words. If I took time to write someone a message, I'd like at least the same consideration back.

I can't seen if there ever be a need. Not for myself at least, I just PM to give info or if someone ask me something. Nobody other then who in the pm will see I liked it and I guess somewhere in the conversation I might tell the I like whatever it is they done anyway lol

Just because someone "likes" a message does not mean that they wouldn't take the time to respond. This isn't social media...

I don't really see the point, since the only person who would see the Like would be you and the other person.

As others have said, I can't see the need for this. PMs are usually used to exchange information or have a private chat. I'd think a quick "like" would be rather insulting in that case.

Just because someone "likes" a message does not mean that they wouldn't take the time to respond. This isn't social media... Wouldn't a person responding to a message show their appreciation of another's PM in their response? I certainly would - and, yes, message boards are social media.

Okay, I don't care if people think that forums are considered "social media." They don't work exactly the same as a typical social media website.
Either way, People who would ACTUALLY use the "PM" like system, would generally respond to the PM regardless if the hit the little like button or not.

Usually, i like stuff if i don't have time to respond or just don't want to. If I sent a PM which required the receiver to respond and they just liked it, i'd feel sad.

I'd like it. I'd Like on my way to answering. It would add a punctuation to the comment.

Generally the Like button means you like something, but don't have enough interest in it to actually reply
