I am the type of person who will buy a pair of shoes and keep them until they are, literally, falling apart. As a woman, finding shoes is harder than most because I have wide feet with hardly any arch. Women's shoes have narrow arches and those hurt my feet. So I have to buy men's shoes. That being said, I've always worn one brand of shoe and style in tennis shoes. Skater shoes by DC. Now, the last pair I bought were ten years ago. Thursday, I bought a pair because my last pair were so bestie on the bottom that my feet got wet if I walked on wet ground. I guess that happens when there are wholes in the bottom of your shoes... So, when I went to get shoes I was looking for a 6.5 in boys/men's as that's the size I have always worn. They didn't have any in my size so I opted to order them. But, before the lady at Jorney's would place the order she wanted me to try on similar shoes to make sure that what we ordered would fit. So then, we did that... An hour later, I'm walking out of the store with a men's 8.5 and three pair of socks for 80$. The shoes are super comfy. Now, the last time I checked, my feet stopped growing at like 17 so I'm baffled at this. Not to mention I have wore the same shoe style and brand for almost 20 years. It's strange... The last pair I bough didn't cost as much either... While I'm on the price of shoes, kids tennis shoes are outrageously expensive too. Just plain tennis shoes...

That's me lol. But my wife is completely different. Liz will buy shoes for any occasion like weddings, family night outs etc, and it's not just shoes. The last time I checked Liz had around 20 pair of shoes (some only been worn once or twice), 10 handbags and clothes in her wardrobe that have only been worn occasionally on the special occasions. And I guarantee you that if we were invited too another special occasion whenever and she decided to go then I would expect to hear from her "I will have to get a new pair of shoes/handbag/blouse/top/skirt......" I gave up years ago with the reply "You don't have to buy the (above mentioned).....LOOK IN YOUR WARDROBE!!!!". Her reply will always be "I cant wear or use that handbag as I wore them at.......(special occasion). Elizabeth 10 v 0 John lol.

LOL, I only said that as that was my husband's response. But, I do feel you. While I am not into the clothes, shoes, and handbags like your wife, I'm sure my husband can relate to you. I have to have the latest in technology, because I'm an IT Nerd... It's a bit more expensive than wardrobe changes. Though, I've seen some outrageously expensive shoes and handbags.

These are just 6 pairs of my wife's shoes I found at the back of her wardrobe. I presume the other pairs she has in front of them are recent ones over the years and these ones must be from years back, 'Old Faithful's' as I call them. I won't dare toss them as she is very sentimental when it comes to anything like these and handbags the same as cards like Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas cards etc over the years from family and she would know if anything is missing. We have 3 boxes of cards stored in a closet. Lucky Liz was in the back room on her laptop when I dug the shoes out and took a photo then quietly put them back. If she had seen me getting them out of her wardrobe she would be saying "What are you doing?......DON'T GO TOSSING THEM!!!!".

I dont buy shoes much, not walking on them makes them last forever lol but recently got new pair of riding shoes, they were 2 sizes bigger then my last pair and don't think my feet have grown much. Old pair still fit but just kinda tight. Styles vary so much can't always judge buy last pair I brought to know if they fit me. And my mum always complaining how her wide feet make shoes hard to buy. guess it why she got wardrobe full of them. Shoe makers are loosing a market there

I usually just buy a bunch of pairs of flats. The most I've ever paid for one pair was probably around $25. But that's rare, I like to go to DSW and look in their clearance section because they usually will have at least one pair of flats that I like in my size, at a hugely discounted price. I don't like paying a ton of money for shoes. I love flats though because they are so easy to just slip on and off, especially if I'm in a hurry, or just running out for a quick grocery run. I do have lots of other shoes also, but most of those are from my days of working at Payless... I think my feet are shrinking though, last pair I bought was a 5 which is a whole size smaller than the 6 I usually wear. Though that could be from different manufacturers also.

I have one pair of dress shoes in a cupboard with a pair of trainers and boots for bad weather. I have a pair of crocks that I walk around in when I am outside or down town, and a pair of house slippers that I am wearing at the moment, that's my lot.

Teg, I like those shoes you posted. They DO look comfy. I'm always on the hunt for tennis shoes I like and most importantly, are comfortable. Most have such crazy designs that I don't like them. I like a very simple design for my sneakers like the ones you posted. I do have slightly wide feet but very high arches so finding shoes that are comfortable is problematic but boots are especially hard as I can't get them on due to my high arches. I have an old pair of rubber bottom green shoes that I keep by the back door for when I go work in the garden or need to take the garbage out, etc. I love those shoes and I wish all my shoes were that comfortable. I'll keep them until they fall off my feet but they are just too out of style to wear anywhere but my back yard. Caajscot (John), I thought I was rather frugal when buying shoes and handbags but when I read you thought 20 pairs of shoes was enough, I'm thinking maybe I'm not so frugal after-all. I actually just took about 15 pair (nearly new-looking but outdated) to the salvation army and still don't have enough room for my shoes but I've been blaming my closet and not that I might just buy too many. lol I do love shoes, I have to admit and have everything from assortments of stilettos (nightlife/upscale parties) to high heels of around 2-3 inches (for work), flats, tennis shoes (many because I buy and then they aren't comfortable after-all), boots for style and boots for walking through snow and the list goes on. Now hand bags, I don't have that many. Maybe 6 everyday hand bags, a couple of "dressy" clutches and that's about it. I think it is so funny you got that picture of your wife's shoes. I wonder if she'll notice you messed with her shoes? I don't hold sentiment for any shoes but I do have one pair of boots that were rather costly but very out of style now but I love them and hang onto them in hopes one day they will be back in style. But other than those boots, I have no issue with clearing out my closet for new shoes. hee hee. Out with the old and in with the new is my motto!

I recently purchased a pair of shoes. They were too narrow. They hurt my feet. It cost me a spec over $30.00 to UPS return them.
I just recently purchased a pair of Clarks shoes. So far so good.
Shoes are pricey.

It's hard finding shoes for me. I have wide feet and very low arches. I've had the same shoes for 4 years now. The one before that 5 years. Working at Walmart as a cart pusher destroyed my last pair. The same type though. Unfortunately Nike no longer sells these ones. So now I gotta take hours to find new ones if need be. :/ plus in 10½ is harder to find. Generic ones from Walmart suck as they make my feet stink, and very sweaty. As well as they fall apart very easily within a year or two. I get mine at a store called Shopko. They have adidas, etc. But Nike seems to be the only one with my type of shoes.
