Our website uses the custom page option as a front page for our community. Right now, we expend a lot of extra work maintaining both our facebook presence (https://www.facebook.com/ccfcomics/) and our front page (http://classiccomics.boards.net/) simultaneously. Would love a plug-in that would pull directly from the facebook page or, at the very least, provide a simpler blank widget input so that we could easily cut and paste the facebook update into the front page without worrying about the html coding.
Can any of this be done?

Hey shaxper, This should point you in the right direction: developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/page-pluginEssentially, it embeds your Facebook page into your website, in this case your custom page. Input the customizations you want and you should be good to go! This requires very little coding on your part.

So I put in the facebook plug-in tonight. Works great, but one out of every five refreshes or so, there are noticable javascript "glitches" where bits and pieces of the page are showing up in the wrong places. I'm assuming facebook's java and proboards' java aren't playing nicely. Is anyone able to replicate this error on their own browsers and offer suggestions? Perhaps, if there isn't a simple fix, even just tell me whether to talk to facebook or proboards about this? Thank you! My site: classiccomics.boards.net/

I'm starting to think it's an issue specific to Chrome.

shaxperTry incognito browsing, or clear your cache. It's very probable your cache has some code stuck somewhere floating around in the cache that the page doesn't agree to.

Neither solved the problem. My browser is up to date too. But if you're pretty sure it's just me, I can live with that. My concern is that other visitors to the site will be experiencing this issue as well. Thank you for your help.

I'll confirm that I am not getting any page remnants after 10 refreshes viewing the forum but I can also confirm I was plagued with a very similar problem last week on a laptop. Parts of the pages were showing up as rectangular blocks in a completely different location, for example the page selector would appear in the bottom right corner, and this persisted even during scrolling but disappeared after a refresh. This was happening in Chrome but not Firefox or IE. Last week I was also on an OS named Windows Vista which apparently is now a museum piece but the problem still persisted after upgrading to Windows 8, it wasn't until installing 150+ hotfixes from windowsupdate and then upgrading to Windows 8.1 that the problem finally went away.

Maybe that's why I'm having such a hard time getting the hang of JS and jQuery - I use Vista.

Glad you got your problem fixed! Sorry, however, you ended up with Windows 8.1. My condolences. I was sorta used to windows 8 from playing with it on a windows phone, I however was not expecting it to treat my laptop as an oversize phone... Hey Sir Chrome Sneakers. You made me laugh because windows vista was hands down the worst operating system microsoft has ever regurgitated. You obviously never met the three amigos; Wind98, Win98SE and WinME. Windows 9x Development Team: "This night, before the rooster crows, thou shalt deny me thrice." These three problem children were apparently a source of great embarrassment to Microsoft who denied them thrice one night before the rooster crowed Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows Millennium Edition on December 31, 2003, and extended support ended on July 11, 2006. Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE Extended support ended the same day. Hey Sir Chrome Sneakers. You made me laugh because windows vista was hands down the worst operating system microsoft has ever regurgitated. Aw, shoot! Maybe that's why I'm having such a hard time getting the hang of JS and jQuery - I use Vista. Keep at it Lynx , jQuery has actually made it so much easier since you no longer have to worry about the differences between browser A and browser B and having to account for those differences in your code. The best way to learn, at least for me, was to just to jump in, if you drown then you can use the condolences mmhmm was offering since I don't think I'll be needing them anytime soon anyway. But let's suppose for a second that you actually started to tread water then learned a few strokes where you can move around under your own power then at some point you've gotten so good that what you are doing is referred to by others as swimming, wouldn't that be just great? Remember, 98.7% of all computer related errors occur between the chair and the keyboard, your job, should you choose to accept it, is to upgrade that critical segment.

So, sorry to bump this thread back up again, but I am experiencing issues with the plugin and would appreciate help.
I've noticed all along that there's a slight lag in the load time of the facebook feed. It takes between 2 and 5 seconds to load up on my machines. I wasn't crazy about the lag, but I considered it acceptable, and my machines are several years old.
But I'm hearing from several members that the lag is taking upwards of 30 seconds to load up. Clearly that isn't acceptable. Is there anything I can do on my end to speed up the load time, or is this a straight-up facebook issue?
Thank you again for all your help!
