Hi guys -- certain time zones might see that the countdown timer is already at 0, but that's simply a limitation of the countdown timer plugin, which uses your computer's clock and checks against an input date/time, which in this case is Feb 8th at 10 AM pacific time, which is noted in the confirmation email. We're about 24 hours out from the actual announcement. A whole room of coders with the ability to code forum software, and they can't code a simple countdown Runs and hides

Lol, not me. Love 5. I would hate it if code was broken.
Footers no longer work in the Visual Editor tab.
You now have to add hot topic icons that were once there.
I'm gonna vote thumbs down on v6 unless all current coding remains and works.

A whole room of coders with the ability to code forum software, and they can't code a simple countdown Runs and hidesA dev didn't make that page, silly! They've been far too busy. That countdown timer was my handiwork, and runs on an open source jQuery plugin that doesn't have an easy way to handle time zones (it goes off your system date/time) -- it was mostly for the visual impact. Loving the theories in this thread thus far btw! Can't wait for tomorrow!

But let's be serious: Mind games can be fun! Both sides could get a laugh out of it and one side learns to stay on their toes.

Waaaa, rookie mistake, David! Either use the getUTC nnn() list of methods in JS, or use getTimezoneOffset() to get the offset between local time and UTC time, then add this offset TO local time to get UTC. Then add the offset between UTC time and the timezone of your choosing, in this case Pacific Time. You can factor in daylight savings if the timezone you're targeting observes it during the summer, by returning the offset value as mentioned above, but for two fixed dates in the current year, spaced six months apart. If the two offsets are different, the timezone observes Daylight Savings in the summer. Then just compare the current offset from UTC to these two values, and if it matches the latter one, we're in Daylight Savings, otherwise we're in Winter Time. Teg and I have learnt a lot about timezones while coding various bits for HogEx It's been fun and/or terrifying! Also, this video might help. You are not alone! (hug) <3

LMAO Azy nearly lost all of his hair working out the time Timezone thing for the HogEx time clock, birthdays custom things and more! David Clark , that video cracked us both up, you should totally watch that. And next time, don't use a plugin, ask us and we'll give you our code hahahaha
