Greetings , I'm new here & to the whole idea of creating my own forum . It's HERE for anyone who wants to check it out . I have some questions about additional "cells" added to the sidebar . If I add a cell called "todays birthdays" : 1 do the members celebrating that day automatically appear there ? 2 If not ^ , is this something I will have to check every day & add the code myself ? Forgive me for sounding like a dufus , but technically , I am . Thank you in advance , Gene .

Hi, renegade10. The containers you add to the Sidebar Redux plugin do not automatically populate. Information must be manually entered into them or content must be incorporated from another plugin that provides that information on every page. Unfortunately there's nothing readily available on the page for a plugin to check against to look through your member list to see if any users' birthdays falls on the current date, so for the time being there's no existing plugin to check against birthdays on the forum. The only alternative would be to manually enter their birthdays into a plugin and have that plugin check against that, but then the dates you added would be in the source of every page on the forum. Based on several previous threads I've responded to in the Support Board regarding privacy settings on forums I would have to guess that many users would prefer their date of birth be hidden rather than on public display on each page, but there are also those like me who don't mind showing their birthday so it's possible you could just have users opt in similar to how they have to opt into showing their age in their privacy settings.

Thank you for the response . I guess we'll just stick to the recent thread cell .
