ukschalke , your past kitties look so pretty. I love the tortoiseshell pattern in their fur. I feel for you in your loss. Just this passed December I lost my fluffy boy of 10 years. Least we have our happy memories of their antics and love. thanks, yeah the tortoiseshell cat was tinker, she lived about 19 years and the other cat (minnie) lived to about 17.both been house cats/ indoor cats ukschalke Daw what nice looking kitties.I'm sorry to hear that they passed, I'm sure they were great companions. thanks and yes the were great although at times the cat hairs got on my nerves because they stuck to dark clothing ukschalke , I'm sorry you lost your kitties. They were so cute. I've lost too many pets to old age and I don't want to even think about it or I'll start crying. thanks and yes its sad when a beloved pet dies

All your kitties are purfect! Beautiful! Chris , Penny is gorgeous in a regal kind of way. 20 is impressive! May she have years more of her happy, healthy life. I actually found out tonight that Penny's mother is still alive today at 24 haha; my girlfriend has had Penny (and her sister Francine who passed in '14) since the day they were born from her mother's cousin's cat so they've been able to keep tabs on the mother kitty and see if she's still around. You kind of forget that a mamma cat doesn't have to be much older than her kids or at least I do. Awesome the mom is still alive so hopefully, your cat will live long too. This an emotional thread. I'm sad for those who lost their beloved pets and then the next minute I'm laughing at Wildmaven's captioned pics and then little fish that died, so sad again. My sister had some gold fish that were very old but I'd have to ask her how old. I know she had then for a very long time. They were huge but she had super large aquariums so the grew to suit the container and personally, I think have a happier life with more room. She had fish care down pat. I think I'm also enjoying the cute names people name their pets.

Right? I didn't realize that people here had such beautiful furbabies (and fish babies in a couple cases). I'm glad you all took the time to share them with us

This is Sierra from a couple of Halloweens ago. She's part Pomeranian and Papillon we think. About 9-10 years old and she was given to us by a customer at the store I work at when she was still a puppy.

As we don't have any pets nowadays, age wise and living in a middle floor flat we get to know all of the neighbour's pets around here (myself mainly) that includes cats too, whenever they see me or Liz and we call them they will come up and greet us. The picture below is a most lovable black lab you could ever meet named Cole, his tail is always wagging and if he see's us up the road being taken for a walk in the local park with the owner's father Alan he will run up to us with his tail wagging and be slobbering all over us, we have known Cole since he was a pup and he is now 8 years old. We met Cole and Alan at the bus stop the other day as Alan was taking him to the Vet's for his check up.

I'll paraphrase Ghandi and say the greatness of a person and their moral compass can be judged by the way their furkids are treated.
And it's so good to see so many treat them so well.

@xsteveuk , I just fell in love with your Maise. You dog is adorable too but something about that kitty, it looks like an old soul in those eyes or something. I'm entranced. I keep looking at that picture lol By the way, Scamper, the cat I posted that was licking his chops. He can shake hands and roll over on cue but only when he wants to. I taught him that as a kitten and he never forgot it, even though I might ask him to do it every 6 months or so. And he learned it so easy, easier than a dog. Storm , Beautiful cat! He DOES look like a big one. My outdoor cat is a big cat too. endo , I never even heard of a Papillon so will need to look that up. But such a pretty dog. Caajscot (John) , black labs are the best in my opinion. @bugmei, Cute, cute and cute! And if I missed anyone, I assure you I didn't miss any pictures. This is my most favorite thread ever, in the history of me being on Proboards. I love everyone's pets.

Storm , your Thomas looks like my Maine Coon. Purrl. Beautiful.
Every single pet shown is wonderful . . . as are their caregivers.
And I must agree, Tumbleweed . Pet threads are the best.

And I must agree, Tumbleweed . Pet threads are the best. That first picture you posted needs to be on a magazine cover. What a beautiful shot and that cat is gorgeous in such a beautiful setting. Animals give so much to we humans. I know my animals make me laugh or smile every day. My Scamper is really a little coward and naughty. When my other cat, Dixie, was still alive he would come swat her when she had her back turned and then run and hide. I think I might have said this but Lion King has a auto-immune disease (not the bad one) so we keep the indoor cats separated so Scamper doesn't catch that disease so each gets approx. 8-10 hours free run of the house. I do let the cats sniff each other through a cracked door and they might bat at each other. Once I close the door, my Scamper gets all brave and tough. He then runs and jumps into the top level of his condo and growls and only the last half of his tail gets all fluffed up. It's so darn funny. Something about having that encounter through the cracked door makes only the last half of his tail fluff and the only time he growls. Otherwise, just playing and imagining scary things, his whole tail gets fluffed. Silly cats. (I just noticed I still say "'we" like I have my Mom with me still, plus my sister moved out, so I'm actually alone with the cats. Guess I need to make a conscious effort to stop saying that. )

Aw, thank you for the very nice compliment about Purrl's photo, Tumbleweed . He does love the camera.
This is when he first showed up in the neighborhood. His golden eyes are striking. He was just a 9/10 week old kitten at the time and already big for his age.
You can tell by the size of his paws he was going to live up to his Maine Coon heritage.
And it's very kind of you to love and care for a kitty with an auto-immune disease and just take the precautions with the others. My aunt has a kitty with Feline Aids and she must do the same. Thank goodness for those who know those types of illnesses do not have to be an automatic death sentence.
Yes, cats are indeed silly and great entertainers.
And it's ok to use "we". We'll simply think of it as the "royal we". And if it's good enough for the Queen, its good enough for you.

Gosh, that's another pretty picture. You really got those eyes in that shot. Gorgeous. I don't know why I can't ever remember the exact name for that immune disease. But you are right, it is not a death sentence. He could live a long life. He has other issues too, some that are connected to the disease and some that are not. He has allergies and his ears are always giving him issues and he scratches his ears sometimes until they bleed but thankfully, not too often. In fact, in that pic I posted, you can see a little scratch. You could tell he didn't have proper nutritious as a kitten and probably most of his life so his legs are somewhat deformed and he has arthritis. But 99% of the time he is just a normal cat that plays just like any other cat and seems happy as can be.

Thank you, again, Tumbleweed .
I love cats with ear tufts. And his are plentiful and long.
Aw, such a shame about your kitty's bad start in life. Does he get yeast infections in his ears? My friend's cat gets that. And when it flares, he scratches like crazy. Your kitty is lucky he has a caregiver that's willing to do all she can to keep him healthy and offset his poor start in life.
Speaking of deformed legs, I'm a part of a large animal crossposting network and I just got a plea for this poor kitty.
patch.com/massachusetts/jamaicaplain/ivan-cat-deformed-legs-still-has-no-adopters
If I lived in, or near, Boston, I would adopt him in a nano second.
Look at this face and those eyes. So trusting. And yet, no adopters for this handsome boy.
I don't see a handicap when I look at him, I'm mesmerized by that face and his markings!
