Hello, I've searched all around and found one or two old topics related to this, but the code was outdated.
I'm trying to figure out a way to use hide tags. [hide]text here [/hide] , then the user would have to reply to see the hidden text.
Is this still possible to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all who took time to read this.

You could use a div with 0 height/width and hidden overflow to achieve this. And since it's not reliant on a Javascript code it won't be briefly visible on the page before it's finished loading.
Example:

To add to what Brian stated above, if you really wanted it to use [hide] and [/hide] tags, you can use your censored word list:
[hide] = [div style="width:0;height:0;overflow:hidden;"]
and
[/hide] = [/div]
Just note that, when editing a post, people won't see the [hide] and [/hide] tags themselves, but their working replacements.

Also, if someone wanted to hide text and make it much easier to find, they could make the font color the same color as the background. By doing that, quoting or viewing the page source wouldn't be necessary. The text would not be readily visible but click-sweep across the text would reveal it. Shown below: Caveat: If any themes are available on the forum with different background colors, the method I just described will not be very useful.
EDIT: see the post by Brian regarding using transparent as a font color. I'm not sure what will happen with the tag I just made, whether it will be hidden or displayed.
It looks like there are several clever ways on display (or should I say not on display?) in this thread. The threadstarter will have many arrows in his quiver.

Retread: transparent is a valid color as well as long as it's specified using inline CSS.

I would use the hidden [attribute]
<div id='myid' hidden>
What I wouldn't do is set the display: none;
because this is impossible to animate. instead use visibility and opacity
CSS
[hidden]{ visibility: hidden; opacity : 0; } To optimize this you wouldn't set opacity to zero as this will run additional CPU steps, instead set opacity very very low
[hidden]{ visibility: hidden; opacity: 0.000001; }

Philip: The user is attempting to alter the appearance of text in BBCode rather than HTML. That attribute wouldn't be accepted on the posting page.

Here's a plugin I created some time ago, but never submitted it to the library... Hidden TagsIt adds a 'HIDE' button to the reply page, or you can type [hide]xxxxx[/hide] manually. Any content will be hidden from all guests and any members that have not participated in the thread.
