So I had decided to use a custom cursor for my forum to give it a more MMO game feel, but I found myself at a loss when I realized I couldn't get the cursor to change when hovering over text anymore. I've been searching online through guides and such, but the CSS I've tried so far hasn't worked. Maybe I'm targetting the wrong things? Could a code guru maybe guide me in the right direction?

Hi, Mad Madison. The value of the cursor CSS property you added to the body of your page contained two things: A URL to an image and a keyword for which type of cursor you want it to replace. Since you specified auto it's replacing every type of cursor with the one you specified. If you only want to to replace the pointer you can type pointer instead of auto and it should only replace that one. Edit: To correct the above, specifying auto after the cursor URL just tells the page what cursor to fall back on if the previous cursor URL didn't load. Kind of like how a comma-separated list of fonts in font-family tells the page what fonts to fall back on if the previous one isn't supported on the user's device.

Actually, disregard that. I'm thinking of cursor: auto; by itself.
I'm not sure if it's possible to get a cursor added to the body of the page to change depending on whether or not you're hovering over a text node. I can't find anything about it online.

Yeah, I'm still searching high and low and I haven't been able to find how it works by default. Though that auto part you were mentioning might be involved... I'll need to research a bit more.
Thanks Brian, for helping me out on this hunt.

Are you trying to change the cursor ONLY when it's over text?

Are you trying to change the cursor ONLY when it's over text? You know how by default the cursor does that? As soon as a used a custom one it stopped. I’m trying to get it to do it again. Yes, to show the text cursor over all selectable text.
