We are a board of silver haired ladies. (LOL) One has noticed that the font size in the quick reply text box is smaller (and a different font-I noticed) than the rest of the text font in posts. I can't seem to find where to change it. Help?

Hi silverwillow , a forum link would likely help get to the bottom of it since it would allow us to see the various wiring (aka CSS) involved on that forum (especially if you have a premade theme installed) so giving you a general "cut the blue wire" may not work if the wiring diagram had been changed to achieve a certain effect for that forum. The "normal" way of addressing the font in text areas such as the quick reply is through the visual editor in your forum's admin panel, but as I mentioned before that could be hit or miss since we have no knowledge of what else on that forum might be affecting that area ( a forum link generally allows us to see that) Fill in a new size (e.g 16px or large) and font family (e.g. monospace,Arial) if you do not like the current one (provided there is no wire with a stronger voltage in play elsewhere on the forum)

That didn't seem to make a difference, so it must be 'hard wiring.' Here's the board link: silversisterscafe.proboards.com/ To be clear, it's what we see while we are typing, not what shows up when we hit 'post quick reply.' thanks!

There may be an option in the Visual Editor for that, but I usually just dump this at the bottom of my stylesheet ( Admin > Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS > Stylesheet (tab)): // Change Quick Reply font size .quick-reply textarea { font-size: 18px; }
If you want to change the font as well, what font did you want to change it to?

I see no special CSS rules applied to the quick reply other than the standard browser supplied values on that forum silverwillow so unless you are on a theme that guests cannot see (a theme that is not set as the default) then the admin control panel route should have had an effect but since it did not then I'll deduce that you are indeed on a different theme than what I as a guest can see when I view the forum. The font on that theme is currently set to the browser supplied monospace font family and the size effectively translates to 13.3px which is smaller than the 16px set for the rest of the forum ( exactly as it is on the theme I prefer to use here on the support forum). The "normal" way would also adjust for other text areas such as when creating signatures, personal notes, staff notes, etc. and makes sense since those too would be hard to read if the quick reply is also hard to read. The CSS Lynx supplied would only affect the quick reply and only if there weren't an existing CSS rule that had a higher voltage which is why it's always good to supply a forum url so you are not getting guesses thrown at you due to lack of info.

Chris, I only have the default theme, which is what I'm using. In the visual editor I had switched the default forum text to 12 pt., Verdana, Arial. I think font wise, that's all I had touched. (but I might be wrong. Obviously setting up a new forum you 'mess' with a lot.)
MSG, I don't need to change the font type for quick reply (I was just curious.) It's only the size of the font that I'd like to bump up a little.
So, should I just add what MSG suggested, or Chris, getting my feedback now, what do you suggest?
thanks so much, both of you!

If you want to change the font as well, what font did you want to change it to? That should help if not go back in to see what your default font size is set at.
