Hello there,
I have been on Proboards before and had mixed feelings about it. With the death of other free forum sites , I have come here. However, i struggle with the coding issues here.
I wish it was more like ZetaBoards due to its easier coding to map but I digress...
Anyway, I am in desperate need of help. biggest issues are making tables with set columns and have room to add more content later on. Another issue I have is putting spoilers inside cells of a table. Is it possible to do?
Also is there any way to transform one coding into another accurately? some 3rd party site that can auto-translate it for me?
This is a source of great aggravation for me-- and i don't want to just 'hate proboards' because of it. If anyone has suggestions how to learn the better coding method or if there is a how-to guide , please link it here. Otherwise, I accept any help possible. Thank you.
Sincerely, Zaber

One of the biggest resource sites for Proboards, called Adoxography, has a board for Tutorials: adoxographyv2.boards.net/board/20/tutorialsThis board may help you understand the coding nuances a bit more. If you're writing in a post, it's bbcode using [ ] brackets, whereas forum building areas (like the layout templates) are just HTML with < >

zaber, our Support team (staff) are here to assist - as well as our veteran members (like ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ above) When posting for help it's always best to create a separate thread for each issue. (We don't mind really!) This makes it easier to focus on each individual issue/question to ensure you get the proper support help.

I also would like to add that it also makes it easier for those that have a similar question about the same issue to search for it to help them.
I make a search before asking and maybe 80% of the time I can find it.

I did search and i got no answers for the trouble I have. Its not working nore do I see examples on how to make it work. Besides, this frustrated I really don't care if others have asked. Ill make different topics as i go for each need but bottom line for this one, i need coding help to make a table like from this./ www.tapatalk.com/groups/pokemon_godai/a-zachary-scryer-t1584.html#new Under page 2, Pokedex entry, trying to mimick the same table method AND make it easier to add more as we go instead of writing a brand new one or the table going forever elsewhere.

So are you making an application form like this one for Zachary Scryer is? I've never used a table for an app form before, I just use some coding for the field name and then enter what I want after the colon. So, are you trying to mimic the coding in the 1st post or the 2nd? And I assume this is for a post on your forum, right, not header/footers or layout templates? Since that determines the type of coding.

zaber , just checking in to see how it's going for you. If you are going to be building tables in posts, the first thing I would recommend doing is setting your 'Posting Default' to BBCode. You can do this by going to your Profile > Edit Profile > Settings tab, and about halfway down is the setting for Posting Default. Set it to BBCode and then click the 'Save Account Settings' button. This defaults your post/edit post view to BBCode rather than Preview. So long as you create the post solely in BBCode view and not switch to Preview your table code will stay in format easy to work with. Once you view in Preview, it rearranges the code in the BBCode window to a flowing line of code. Next, in the full editor mode (not the quick reply) is the wysiwyg editor buttons. The table button is the simplest way to build a table. Click the button and set the number of columns and rows. You can also set the cell padding and spacing, as well as if you want a border. Row 1 column 1 | Row 1 column 2 | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 |
You can include spoilers in a table using the spoiler BBCode: [spoiler][/spoiler] Visible content
spoiler content | Row 1 column 2 | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 |
Tables in posts do accept inline styling as well. Visible content
spoiler content | Row 1 column 2 | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 |

Im sorry IRL has dragged me down a bit in acitivyt but back and checking now *Reads* ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ The format was different before, and i did see how to apply it but the actual execution still needs work. I can easily make the graph but when i do it just goes on, without repeating the column location. Thats the problem I have. Scott Thank you, but as i mentioned above, the thing is to add new colums and rows after it is already made. Thats the problem. Its not easy if a graph/table needs to add more to it somehow.

To add a new column, you should be able to just insert a new [td]. You can add and remove them whenever you want, even months after making the code, so it should be easy to edit. For example, if my table is
[table][tr] [td]COLUMN 1[/td] [td]COLUMN 2[/td] [td]COLUMN 3[/td] [/tr][/table]
Then I have 3 columns. If I wanted to add a 4th, I simply go in and add a new
[td]COLUMN 4[/td] I can ignore everything else.
Now, the rows must have the same amount of columns. What I mean to say is, if you have 4 columns in row 1 of the same table, then you cannot have 5 columns in row 2 of the same table. But you can just make a new table and it'll look identical in the post--it will look like the same table, even though it's actually 2 tables in the code. Like this:
[table][tr] [td]COLUMN 1[/td] [td]COLUMN 2[/td] [td]COLUMN 3[/td] [/tr][/table] [table][tr] [td]COLUMN 1[/td] [td]COLUMN 2[/td] [/tr][/table]
Now I have 3 columns on top of 2 columns, using 2 separate tables.
If this is not what you are looking for, you will have to explain further, as I don't understand your confusion otherwise
