The worst part about this part of the year is Hurricane Season. While I'm not in the direct path (this time), we're starting to get the wind and the rain where I live and it's expected to get pretty bad between 12am and 3am (EST). So, this girl won't be sleeping. Since we weren't told to evacuate, we are staying put, but I'll be keeping and eye on things.
To those in the path who are still waiting and/or already been hit, I'm hoping and praying that you guys are safe, remain safe, and will be thinking about all of you as I wait it out. <3 - BTW, I missed you guys.

From what I've heard the southeast got hammered pretty badly and it's not over yet. Two reported deaths, three quarters of a million people without power, and widespread destruction and injuries. Are you safe and sound this morning, Teg?

Are you safe and sound this morning, Teg ? We are safe, the latest update is about 1.2 million people without power. Parts of Panama City and Mexico Beach are in ruins. It legitimately looks like an atomic bomb went off and there's nothing left. We were generally out of the path, but lost some power, had downed trees and some flooding. Power was back up pretty quickly though. We are lucky as it could have been so much worse. What happened in the panhandle was/is devastating. It's going to take months if not years to rebuild there. I'll likely be taking a trip to Florida to help with relief efforts.

Just waiting for the backend of Hurricane Michael to hit us now, we won't get it as bad as across there but it will be wild, wet and windy I can bet you on that one, it's pretty windy outside now with rain showers.

The death toll is now at 11 and may well rise as the devastation that is Mexico Beach and Panama City is cleared. Here in upstate South Carolina we were spared the worst of it. There are a number of new lakes around town but those will drain away in a day, or so. We lost power at our house for 21 hours but there are those elsewhere who might not have power for weeks. Glad to see the last of Michael. Good luck to those across the pond when his ugliness gets to you.
