Can somebody please make a profile comments plugin that will allow members to leave comments on other member's profiles?
The ability for them to leave replies would be cool too but not necessary in my opinion because they could always just respond by leaving a comment back on the commenter's profile.
I am aware of the plugin that allows you to post status updates and replies but that is something different. I want to use it more as a way of welcoming new members and communicating with one another. Like the old MySpace comments were. The ability to post images and video would be awesome too. Maybe have it use the quick reply efitor?

Preface: I'm not a plugin author so I can't fill this.
That said, this has been asked for before, and there are always some considerations which seem to make this plugin less appealing to plugin creators:
1. The comments will need to be stored in a key. Because of the nature of keys, there's a finite amount of data that will be stored. The most common way around this is that older comments will be deleted. Adding replies in means that there will be less room for comments.
2. Posting images and video (presuming you mean you want it to make use of UBBC / the WYSIWYG editor to use image and video tags in order to display them in the comment) would mean that there would need to be an entire functionality written into the plugin that mimics posts, because posting / UBBC is not available outside of a thread. I don't know what would have to go into writing that, but pulling posting options from the software wouldn't be possible since none of the components are available on the profile page.
I don't know what your chances are of getting this filled, but it would probably be more successful if the comments were left in plain text.

No she can't. She said: Preface: I'm not a plugin author so I can't fill this.

Confirming what ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ said. I'm not a plugin author, so no, I can't fill this. I also made sure to say in my original post that I don't know what your chances are of getting this request filled. It's not a quick plugin to write so with a lot of plugin authors taking a break until v6 comes out, you probably won't get the response you want in the timeframe you're seeking.

Ok, fair enough,(just brainstorming here) but what about a plugin that would give members the option of making certain private messages (selected and approved by member) to display publicly on their profile?
I thought of this because their was once a voice blogging website called "Snapvine" that allowed this and it was really cool!

I thought of this because their was once a voice blogging website called "Snapvine" that allowed this and it was really cool! A plugin wouldn't be able to accomplish this. There's no way to make private messages show anywhere other than the conversation they originated from. Plugins on ProBoards are basically header/footer codes but with a settings page. They can only add HTML, CSS, or JS (which are all client-side languages) to the page. They unfortunately don't function like plugins on a service like WordPress where server-side languages can be used and can execute database queries.

I thought of this because their was once a voice blogging website called "Snapvine" that allowed this and it was really cool! In addition to what Brian said, perhaps with these limitations it's important to start thinking about value over feature. What value would adding comments to someone's profile add, that a thread (public) or conversation/PM (private) not supply? Is this a functionality that is inherently required on your forum for whatever your end goal is? I'm not saying it's not, to be 100% clear. But with "something is better than nothing" being said earlier on in the thread, I'm curious as to why the absence of this feature is having a negative impact on your community. It might be better, for instance, as a feature request instead of a plugin request, or it might be one of those situations where an existing plugin can supply for the need even though the functionality may be different.

It's having a negative impact on me because I would like to have profile comments on my forum for reasons that I stated in the original post .. lol.
I wish I could export that profile comments plugin the wormo codes had in the plugin library a few years back. I have it installed on one of my forums but I see no option to export it?

Right, I understand what you said above but what I meant was why does have to be specifically on profiles? You have the capability of welcoming new members through a welcome thread or board, or via the built-in welcome PM or manually sending a PM so they can reply to it. Like I said, I'm not trying to convince you not to have it, but it may help a plugin creator decide if they want to fill the request to have context behind wanting something that there is already (theoretically) a workaround for. As to your second question, you can only export plugins if the build is unlocked and appears in the "Build" tab of the plugins section. To the best of my recollection, Wormo's plugins are all build locked, so if they have been removed from the library or their support threads, they can no longer be downloaded.

Wormo's code does still exist, but it is tied to statuses specifically, which I know you don't want. I don't believe he had a different plugin by this name, are you perhaps confusing it with a different plugin, or perhaps just forgot that it did depend on statuses? support.proboards.com/thread/480818/profile-comments-library-support

Yes, I know wormo's profile comments plugin isn't exactly what I had in mind but it is better than nothing. I actually found a working download of his plugin and I am using it on my forum now.
