If, like Harry you have had to walk behind a gun carriage carrying your dead mother infront of a worldwide audience, had the UK press (which truly is the scum of the earth) constantly question his parentage and then decide that his new wife is public enemy #1 and is trying to destroy the Royal Family from the inside, then I think anyone in that situation is perfectly entitled to bugger off and do what they feel they need to for as quiet and happy a life as possible. This, basically. I really couldn’t care less what the royals get up to and I’m almost sick of reading about it, but it seems like Harry has done the best thing for his own mental health. They’ll have no problem working, probably on the sort of thing former politicians do like public speaking etc. The money certainly won’t run out. Security in Canada is another issue, but it sounds as though they don’t want to take the mick with public money so I’m sure there will be a solution. The dislike of Meghan from the British press bothers me. Again, I couldn’t care less about her at all, but it bothers me that Kate is seen as the perfect princess but Meghan is an outsider. I’m sure it could be because her background isn’t right as an American actress rather than posh Brit, but you can’t help thinking that race probably has something to do with it.

If you take the main perpetrators of this, the Daily Mail & The Express - two of the more right-wing, xenophobic and generally deplorable news outlets in the mainstream conscience then it definitely does. We don't call the Mail the Daily Racist for no reason. I'll happily die in this hill as well. If you even consider reading the Mail, then you are part of the problem.

It's amazing to me that this is weeks' long national and international news. I don't understand this fascination with celebrity and whatnot. There shouldn't be much more reaction than, "oh, okay, good for you two."
I care about as much about where Harry and family are living as I do about what colleges the Obama sisters went to or what Clinton's kid is doing. I genuinely wish the best for them, as long as they're good people, but it's not relevant to me or worth spending time on.

However, 'choosing' to marry into royalty isn't an easy decision. Harry had no choice in being royal, but Meghan did. She's not naive, she's lived. Did she honestly think her life would be her own when she chose to join the Firm? If you 'choose' to join the Royal Family, it's a HUGE, life changing deal. Not to be taken lightly. Your life will change massively. Your life is no longer your own, for the main part. You have to do what you're told to do. You have obligations...responsibilities...duties. Did she not know/realise/accept that? This implies that Meghan is orchestrating the decision to step back from being a 'royal'. From all the news and such I've seen, this appears to more of Harry's doing, and quite understandably so: Harry seemed to be fine about being a royal before he got married. He certainly showed no signs of wanting to leave the firm, when he was a single bloke. I was under the impression that he wanted to carry on his mum's work, whilst still being a royal. He loves his dad and his grandmother...that was never in question, but he still wanted to be his own person like Diana was. Obviously Meghan is not orchestrating the step back.....otherwise she would never have agreed to the pomp and cremony of the televised Royal Wedding....she would have preferred a much simpler 'do'. They both would have.
