I put it on now what do I do how do I accept people and not accept people how does that work When someone joins, you'll receive a notification that you have a pending registration. You click on it. You can view the join request message they left you, if they left you one. You can click on their IP address and/or email address to see whether or not they are known spammers. You can approve or deny the account from there.

Yes you're probably correct but I don't think I'll do that because I have to see everything that goes on in the form and if I change the settings then I won't be able to undo it What I explained is more of a filter. You're not changing a setting. Think of it like looking at a menu with a list of pizza toppings. You pick the ones you want for your dinner and the rest stay in the kitchen. All the options will stay on your forum and you can use the filter to search for different things as needed. Otherwise, depending on the number of actions taken by members, you are filling your head with information you don't need when all you are focusing on right now is deleted accounts.

OK I got 1 now what do I do how do I know it's not gonna be spamming up my website what do I have to look for and it doesn't look like it's a real email address Simply put, you never know 100% if a registration is legitimate. This has come up several times in different threads, so I really just want to encourage you to start thinking less about being 100% sure about why, or what hidden meaning may exist, and start thinking more about probability & erring on the side of caution. In the case of monitoring registrations, there are a few things you can do to help reduce the risk that the person joining is someone who wants to cause trouble. 1. You have an option to leave a message to registrants and enable a registration message from the registrant. You can leave a message that anyone who joins needs to leave a message with some sort of proof of your choice that they're a legit member — ask them to type in a certain phrase, explain why they're joining, let you know how the found the forum, etc — and anyone that either replies with a clearly unrelated answer or no answer at all, you can reject. It doesn't mean inherently that the registrant is fake or malicious, but you'd be erring on the side of caution. 2. As you noted, email addresses are a good way to help vet registrants. Strange website addresses after the @ or nonsense email names, or email names that are identical except for the last few characters, etc are generally signs of illegitimate registrations — again not 100% certain, but erring on the side of caution. 3. Similarly, weird usernames (especially if it's one or two words followed by a random set of numbers) could also be a sign of an illegitimate registration. 4. You can also set up that people with fewer than 1 post OR you can create a special user group new members automatically get added to that can only see 1 special board, where they are forced to create a thread to introduce themselves. If they don't, or post spam, you can delete their account & posts and ban them. 5. You can use a third-party website like whatsmyip to see if the IP address associated with the registrant has ever been flagged for spam or other malicious use. It's not fool-proof as IP addresses are often recycled and reassigned, but it can be a way to help mitigate any potential problems. Overall, we can't give you a 100% way to "know" if someone is going to be a good member, but you can make an educated guess based on the above criteria and systems.

Reminder Please don't dm random people on support with tech support questions unless you have permission. That's what the support board is for. Just continue in your thread.
