Hei....have you ever taken a writing class for novels, I have taken a couple of great online classes that helped me out a lot....they are pretty cheap and offer some great advice.
If it was me and of course you're not, but I would start out with your characters before you start writing build their personalities, and what you want them to be like, think, feel, favorite foods, style of clothing they wear etc....are they friendly or recluse what would they do in given circumstances. Do this for each character so you can fall back on that information when you get further into your book. One of the hardest things I think for an author is to keep her/his OC's in character throughout the book. I would start there and from there go into your outline.
Hope that helps.

It obviously doesn't matter how many pages are in a book, seeing as both series and simple novels can have that many pages.
but i am considering a sequel to this book only to address different characters in the novel and a different plot. o:
as for the audience- i don't stick to a particular kind of book; i read war books, death books, police dramas, fantasy and adventure, mythology, classics, contemporary, science fiction, romance... i like them all. so the audience i am going for is simply anyone who wants to read it. to me, it's not about how many books i sell. it's just about making a book for people to enjoy if they want to read it.
xD hope that cleared some stuff up.
This was not meant as a critism you asked for an idea of how many pages in a chapter and how long a chapter should be, and mentioned how long you wanted your book. I was just trying to point out that not everyone is you. I realize you have in your mind what you like, and that's great. But, for the most people to enjoy your book as you have said you would like to happen. I was just offering maybe a little advice that you might take from those around you. Your peers are sometimes either your best or worst critics, and your friends will usually tell you just what you want to hear. Your friends don't want to offend you, but your peers who write as well might just offer you some good advice.

Hei, in my honest opinion I think you know what you want, but first of all and most important....I don't think anyone has touched on this yet, what is the audience you want to reach? If you want a best selling novel....this is something you might want to consider heavily.
Do you want the audience that are mostly determined readers or do you want a rather wide variety.....if you do want a wide variety I would not make my novel "War and Peace". I think a fair amount of pages for a book is 500. If you have more to say than that maybe you should think seriously about a sequel.
Good Luck to you in whatever you decide.

wOW quite a drastic change from modern to historical. It might be a bit harder to come up with some good board colors now but I would start with making your banner and boarders, categories etc... smaller as in not as wide because they take up so much of the page you can't hardly see your background. I think then if it were me I might go with black and white writing....cause like I said it's going to be pretty hard to stay in your theme there with the background in black and white.

Personally and I'm not a mod or anything but I think your banner is perfect, because it will attract more than just very dark people. It's based on TV shows and movies so hey the daylight tone brings a little light to it. If that is not what you want and you want something very, very dark and goth then change it, but I think you will get a better variety of people with what you have.
I also did notice that your tables didn't quite match up I think Tru mentioned that above.

Nice choice with the white house....now you can work on the rest....you might notice though that the pic doesn't quite reach the end of the screen at least it doesn't on my 20 inch screen, just to let you know.

Large fonts may be used alot because it makes it easier to read.....The small font looks nice on your site but after staring at it for so long it may make your readers tired if they have any type of vision other than twenty/twenty....other than that the design is great and everything works well together

I responded to this question in the coding and designs board under graphic design discussion, take a look at my thoughts there and see if it helps.

LOL well I like it the colors are nice maybe a pic in the background of a jolly roger and a smaller jolly roger instead of the folders on the left hand side that designate the different boards. Hope that helps....you might also use some glazing.

Another suggestion is to make passwords on some parts of your board that you don't want access to by members, or guests browsing. If they ask you can just say for security reasons for you and others access to this part of the board is for full members and that may give them incentive to post alot to become a full members

I see Thanks, I saw someone have a code for doing that somewhere. I just need to give my place a little more upbeat look but not changing the general theme

Thanks Smangii.....I'm looking to see if I can put a transparent in between or make the background I have now into a transparent and use something from my banner I have now to make the distant back ground and you can see it through the transparent if that makes sense at all.
