Hi Todge. I really like this plugin and I've been able to do a lot with it. The one problem I am having on it is the little gear wheel that enables the pop up to remove replies/content from the list being visible for everyone, including general members. Is there a way to hide the gear wheel? The site is in maintenance mode right now so linking wouldn't help much but I have a screenshot to show what it's looking like. (Ignore that it's blank, there hasn't been any new posts since I'm remodeling)  I have just tested this on multiple browsers on my test site, and the gear wheel is only visible to staff members. Are you using the latest version of the plugin? |

There are several ways of doing this.. You can indeed do it with coding in the Headers/Footers, or it can be done by editing the template/layout, or it can be done with a plugin. The Headers/Footer way would be the more complex way, as you'd need to edit line(s) of coding each time you change the image/info. A template edit would be the better way, especially for moving elements around, like moving the navigation bar to the bottom of the forum etc. A plugin can also achieve it, and would be the easiest for you to edit, depending on what you wanted to include with each teaser.. The BEST way, for you, would be to combine an edited template with a plugin plugin for you to change the info.. If you go for the template, you will need to make a request in the Templates board. |

The main reason to host your own smileys is for 'image security', you have control of what images are stored, if you hotlink to other sites you have no say on what that site does, they can change the filenames or change the locations of the images, both of which would stop your smileys from being displayed, they can even delete them, and you'd have no say in it. Another advantage of hosting your own images is that you can name them yourself, so, for this image..  You could have the code ::peacock:: instead of ::200w:: for example. |

If you can, it would always be best to host your own images, that way you have full control of your smileys and they will stop disappearing..

If animated gifs stop animating, that will be down to your PC/browser. Some browsers will not display the animation if it is busy doing some other task, like loading data etc, if the animation is missing from only some of your gifs that could be because the image has not loaded properly, try refreshing the page, or even a hard refresh.
Either way, it will probably be an issue with the device rather than the plugin.

If the plugin is ticked, it is active. If you untick the plugin it does not remove it, but it does disable it. The only way to remove a plugin is to click on the x to the far right of it in the Admin panel.

Hello Todge, I did as you suggested and replaced the Smilie Management Plugin with the version you gave in your reply. I no longer get the You need the Smilie Dropdown Plugin, version 3.2.7 or above, to use all the functions of this plugin! message but I also can't see the smilie list. I didn't delete the data only the plugin. It was just the strangest thing. On Friday the smilie drop down was there on the forum and working properly and on Saturday it wasn't yet still in the plugins. And even stranger is the admin and another member who were on earlier than I due to time zone difference said it worked for a few minutes. I am totally stumped. The plugin worked for a while but then stopped? That's strange as plugins usually work or don't unless changes have been made.. Do you have a test forum? And can you PM me your entire smiley list exactly as it appears in your plugin.. Thanks. |

Ok, so this morning I am visiting a forum I help admin. I notice that the smiley drop down box is missing from the forum but not in the plugin area. Download the latest versions of Smiley Drop Down and Smiley Management and deleted the old ones but kept the data. Except now under my admin button I see this: You need the Smilie Dropdown Plugin, version 3.2.7 or above, to use all the functions of this plugin!Everything looks ok but for the info regarding the plugins, except they aren't appearing on the board. Any other proboard I belong to there are no issues. Board LinkI think that is a piece of code left over from a previous version that I forgot to delete.. Can you please replace your version of the Smilie Management plugin with this version please, hopefully that will stop you getting the erroneous message. |

You can also try this... Easy PostImage UploadI made this some time ago, but as far as I know it still works, and there is very little setup involved. The plugin only currently works with PostImages, there is an option to add other image hosts, which I never got to work properly, so just add https://postimages.org/ to the plugin option and save, you should get a link beneath the posting area that you can click to upload an image. |

i may be blind, i am dead tired, but skimmed this entire thread to no avail. Is there no way to limit emoji size forcefully? It is 2024 after all, people are too lazy to manually resize their images if I give them perms to use this plugin. Such a good idea but being able to send a 4k image in a shoutbox is hilariously ridiculous. If there's anything I can do to limit it please do LMK.
