--->What is your opinion on banning certain lyric in songs. IMO lyrics on the radio should be banned for younger viewers but only to a certain exstent. Such as today, I was listening to the raido when the Black Eye Peas song "Don't Phunk With My Heart" came on. It is a great song so I kept it on the station...that is until the course came along. Instead of saying "Don't Phunk With My Heart" it came out "Don't Mess With My Heart." The edited a word that just kind of sounded like another certain word, but it wasn't it! I do not know why they had to edit the word "Phunk" and change it to "Mess" There is no real logic in there choice.


--->My opinion on editing lyrics in Cd's is different though. I do not believe that Edited CDs should be sold (Like Wal-Mart for example, only sells edited Cd's) it is changing lyric quotes of somebody else. Which is bad enough, but if you are going to pay for a song you should get the whole song. Parents with younger children should not let there kids listen to it in the first place. If they are letting them listen to it then it should not be edited. If they don't want them to hear it then don't buy it. They are ruining it for the rest of us who are allowed to listen to Exsplict lyrics. There are more people who can hear unedited songs then those who cannot hear unedited songs. So it should be in our favor to keep all cd's unedited. If a parent doesn't want there son/daughter to listen to it then don't buy it for them, easy enough.

They have ratings on the begining of the show which is good, and they usually play clean shows on during the day, and unclean ones during the night. Plus they only play unclean shows on channels that are not basic, while the ones that are basic are clean.

I think certain words should be edited.

But stuff like damn, hell, hoe.

Those shouldn't be a big deal.

Agree'd. On some cases though it shouldn't matter. (CDs, Late Night TV on unbasic channels, etc)

I remember when see'ing people have sex in movies my mom would put her hand over my eyes.




Same with music, when someone would say a curse word she's instantly put her hand over my ears.

They do.

Such as pr0n channels etc.

But kids gain access to them anyway.

Censorship of music is censorship of art. Art should never be touched, refined, edited, or changed (or any other verb of the sort) by anyone other than the orignal artist(s).

In 1985 Tipper Gore and fellow 'White House Wives' started a crusade against rock 'n' roll by forming the PMRC after Tipper bought her daughter the soundtrack to Purple Rain which contained references to masturbation. With the help of their husbands (mostly Senators), the PMRC (who was already declared an official tax-free organization despite having no members, only founders) held Congressional hearings about the so-called "porn rock" and how it promotes illicit behavior amongst children, teenagers, young adults, et cetera. The PMRC wished to set regulations for music. Giving bad music a rating that declares it "inappropriate," thus placing a stigma on the musician, thus making it harder for them to "find work," thus making Tipper and her groupies The White House Wives of Big Brother. The entire hearings were an attempt of the Moral Majority to gain even more control over the country and gradually bring us even closer to fascism.

I agree, am I allowed to change the mono lisa? No. Should the FCC be allowed to change song lyrics? No.

Paintings and Music are both art forms that should not be modified or altered in any way.

Yes, I think censorship is needed. It isn't possible just to say "don't sell cds with swear words on to kids" - if a kid hears an edited version of a track on the radio, you seem to be suggesting he shouldn't be able to actually go and buy the same track he's just heard. He either has to get the uncensored one or nothing.

Most artists do the editing themselves when a radio edit of a track is needed, so it isn't like anyone else is changing the lyrics for them - it's up to them to change the lyrics, or lose some of their audience. Edited lyrics mean the track can be played on daytime radio without a problem, meaning more people hear it, and everyone who hears a music track is potentially a buyer. So it's therefore actually in the artist's best interests to ensure there's a version of his music which is suitable for all audiences.
