I'm designing my first skin, but need a little help. I created the background and am using a code to center it so it doesn't repeat. But now, the empty space on either side looks plain and I was wondering how I can go about filling it with another background. The effect I'm going for is like the skin on this forum: insomniadesigns.proboards49.comI have the background behind the boards, but want something to fill in the empty space on either side, like is done with the blue images on either side of the forum listed above. How do I go about doing this?

It's just one background image, which is fixed, so the forum scrolls over it.

Yea, to get a background like that, you would make an image that is around 1200 pixels wide. The height depends. If you want it to repeat, you can make it small. If you want it to be varied and not repeat, go big. Once you get the canvas, figure out how big the empty middle area will be based on the width of the board. Then fill the outside on one side with anything you want. Then duplicate those layers, flip them horizontally, and move them to the other side.
