Even though your intentions were well ...we do not allow links as it is a form of advertising. Also, when posting here, we do require a post of at least 3 to four sentences. Xkamelx, you might want to add stumbleupon in your advertisements submission list. Not really my job anymore, but if you provide me with a link, I'll go a head and add it, since it's you asking, friend. www.stumbleupon.com/

I think it doesn't really make sense if you have more members or not, for more members, I suggest one thing, that is, the simple option called advertising, so in advertising, you'll need to be bold and post the correct matter on your forum, remember no off-topics. There is an option No.2, Affiliation, you know affiliation is another good view of your forum, if the affiliate button, you made is interesting, people may join your forum! And also, no bribing others like, if you join, I'll put this button, Patience, and you'll have members

Its also good to not just affiliate with sites that you like, affiliate with beginning ones as well. Dont bribe people, you will just get yourself reported and banned, not a good idea. Join advertising forums, discuss things often on different sites; become friendly towards people. They are some of the things I do to advertise, currently, my forum is a work in progress, but I put the link in my name, sometimes people will join, sometimes they wont. Having an active forum is hard, you have to have moderators or fellow admins that you trust and know wont abuse the power. You have to work to advertise, have an affiliate box which is loaded with affiliates.
Have an affiliate of the month competition, advertise plots if its a roleplay site, if its a game site, describe what you talk about, sports? then tell us what its about, if its a random site, you wont get that much members. Also, link your signatures to the sites, sometimes people click signatures not knowing what they are and end up joining the sites. Tell your friends, spread the word to contacts you have on other sites; if your friends with an admin on another site, tell them about their site or make a myspace group.
You'll be sure to get tonnes of members.

You're not allowed to post links on this board. Enchant mentioned it above your last post - I’m sure she means proboards, as always.

A tip on affiliating - Do not affiliate with sites of the same topic as yours. You should be competing with them, not risking loosing members to them. It's best to look at boards that have a similar interest but not the same, that way should your members join their board they will be likely to stick around with yours as it's different in it's topics. For instance; If you own a general football forum don't affiliate with other football forums. Search out boards that have a loose empahasis on the general topic of football but who's main emphasis is on a specific part of the game. For instance say a Manchester United Board. That way all their members will be football fans, but not all your members will be Manchester United fans (and therefore wont leave your site) Good point noted....as I affliated with several related forums however, that does not help bringing in more members. As I initially thought that by providing related forums MAY provide ease for them as an "acting" hub to connect to others forum.

I advertise on sites that Im familar with, I usually click on an advertisement that I dont know then advertise on that site; click another, then usually just make a long line of sites that I have advertised on.
E.G: Charmed Seduction --I post my advertisement-- I follow a link to a different site in the advertising area --I post my advertisement-- Follow the link to another site, then I post my advertisement. Etc.

Well, its kinda stupid with forums about the same genre. I once posted an affiliate request on a RuneScape Fan Forum. Then the next day i was banned (and since they had used that ban reason code) it said that that didn't allow RuneScape fan forum affiliates because they thought it was "competition". I personally belive it was because they were jelous that my Rs forum had hundreds of members when theirs had about 20. I prefer google, because 2 weeks after i submitted my site, it had grown 12 members. 10 of them said they searched RuneScape Fan Forum on google and clicked the second link. The other 2 said they were google bots ( ), i really belive them ( ). So, thats my post.

If it isn't mentioned in the rules, I ask the administrator of another forum before posting a link to my forum.
